Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Materials Handler & Inventory Specialist / Inventory Cycle Counter to join our team in a commercial flavor manufacturing warehouse. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, organization, and integrity of raw material and packaging inventories through daily cycle counts, inventory management, and material handling. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working around strong aromas, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, cleanliness, and safety.
This is a full-time position with a consistent schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform daily inventory cycle counts of all raw materials and packaging inventory.
- Weigh and verify each lot number, accurately record quantities and maintain inventory records.
- Count and distinguish between numerous similar products and lot numbers with a high degree of accuracy.
- Generate inventory reports and communicate discrepancies, trends, and findings to management.
- Maintain detailed records of inventory transactions, stock movements, and cycle count results; prepare reports for management review.
- Maintain the accuracy, organization, and integrity of warehouse inventory.
- Ensure all raw materials and packaging are properly labeled, tagged, and stored in designated warehouse locations.
- Put away incoming raw materials and packaging promptly and accurately each day.
- Remove and properly process materials approaching expiration on a weekly basis following company procedures.
- Safely and skillfully operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move, store, and retrieve materials.
- Utilize pallet jacks, hand carts, drum dollies, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Use scales, calculators, and inventory systems to verify weights and quantities converting units of measurement.
- Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and inventory control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Adhere to all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety, and company hygiene standards.
- Work closely with warehouse, production, and purchasing teams to maintain accurate inventory levels.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of inventory management, inventory control, or cycle counting experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Current forklift certification or ability to become certified.
- Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse material handling equipment.
- Strong inventory management and cycle counting experience.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately identify similar products and lot numbers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic math proficiency, including:
- Addition and multiplication
- Weight calculations
- Converting kilograms (kg) to pounds (lbs) and vice versa
- Ability to accurately record inventory information.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Reliable transportation and a dependable personal vehicle.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent physical activity throughout the workday, including:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, stretching, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and occasional sitting.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position is located in a commercial flavor warehouse where employees regularly work around concentrated food flavors and aromatic ingredients. Candidates must be comfortable working in an environment with strong smells and fragrances and temperatures. Employees are expected to maintain excellent personal hygiene and comply with company GMP requirements, including:
- No jewelry while working in production or warehouse areas.
- Follow all sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food manufacturing, flavor manufacturing, ingredient distribution, or related industries.
- Experience using warehouse inventory software or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and warehouse best practices.
