Position Overview
The Production Manager (PM) position oversees all areas of manufacturing from production through delivery, directing activities such that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality & safety standards and cost. The PM manages the production environment including engineering, material planning and scheduling, production control, material handling and inventory, assembly & manufacturing, maintenance & facilities, packaging, and shipping & logistics. Must have experience with Lean principles, KPIs, dashboards, etc. in a job shop manufacturing and assembly environment. Carries out managerial and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Encourages, manages and leads maximum production flow, while ensuring safety and quality. The PM has proven experience implementing Lean principles throughout manufacturing operations.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives.
- Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards within the production environment.
- Monitors KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs and People) and ensures action plans are set when there is a deviation from the goals or objective
- Sets OKR’s (Objectives and Key results) for the production team aligned with the company strategic goals
- Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet or exceed annual budgetary plan.
- Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
- Manages all aspects of facilities operations and needs and ensures that maintenance policies and procedures result in maximum operational uptime, as well as product specification achievement.
- Plans, executes, and manages lean fundamentals in all aspects of the production environment undertakings. Takes a lead role in implementing, supporting, and maintaining lean principles throughout the company’s departments.
- Directs and monitors department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
- Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements changes to improve safety, quality, productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data.
- Directs the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
- Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
- Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.)
- Ability to create CAPEX (Capital Expenditures for equipment purchases or upgrades)
- Participates in New Product Introduction NPI’s to ensure successful prototyping and production runs
- Expertise in CAPA (Corrective actions and Preventive Plans) to resolve customer field complaints
- Observes good control of WIP Inventory and that transactions are ported on time and consumption of inventory reflects all the materials used to build FG.
- Expertise in ERP reporting

Supervisory Responsibility of up to one hundred employees in the following areas:
The Production Manager manages the Production Supervisors and staff, Maintenance Manager, Quality Control and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within these departments.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering Preferred) required, MBA a plus.
- APICS, 6-Sigma or similar designation highly desirable.
- 10+ years of experience influencing change in an operational capacity.
- 10+ years in Production Management
- 7+ years in Project Management
- Broad business acumen and structured critical thinking skills
- Strategy formulation – ability to identify root causes and develop actionable recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail, with ability to drill down into details to ensure accuracy in deliverables.

- Monday - Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm
