Construction Superintendent (El Paso Texas)

Salary Range

$50,000 - $95,000 per year DOE (Depending on Experience)

Position Summary

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the overall field execution of assigned construction projects. The Superintendent manages daily operations, subcontractor coordination, schedule execution, site logistics, material procurement, workforce management, and project documentation to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

Projects may include commercial, institutional, and government construction projects involving new construction, renovations, repairs, and facility improvements.

The Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Site Safety Representative, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and inspectors to successfully deliver projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership and Execution

Take full responsibility for daily field operations from Notice to Proceed through final completion.
Develop and maintain 6-week, 4-week, 2-week, and 1-week look-ahead schedules.
Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules.
Identify potential delays and immediately notify the Project Manager and Program Manager.
Conduct daily planning meetings with subcontractors and field personnel.
Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
Coordinate project phasing and sequencing to minimize disruption to ongoing operations.
Ensure work progresses in accordance with contract milestones and schedule requirements.

Construction Project Administration

Maintain compliance with all contract documents, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and approved modifications.
Coordinate with government representatives, inspectors, testing agencies, and consultants.
Support contract administration efforts by maintaining complete and accurate project documentation.
Assist with schedule updates, progress reports, pay applications, and project status reporting.
Ensure required notices and coordination activities are completed within contract timeframes.

Subcontractor and Vendor Management

Develop and maintain subcontractor and supplier procurement schedules.
Coordinate subcontractor mobilization and manpower requirements.
Verify subcontractors understand project requirements before work begins.
Inspect delivered materials for compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate long-lead material procurement and delivery schedules.
Review field progress and productivity of subcontractors and vendors.

Daily Reporting and Documentation

Prepare and submit daily reports including:
Manpower logs
Work activities
Deliveries
Weather conditions
Progress photographs
Schedule impacts
Material status updates
Maintain project records, meeting minutes, and coordination logs.
Track RFIs, submittals, material deliveries, inspections, and field issues.
Maintain accurate as-built information throughout the project.

Coordination with Quality Control and Safety Personnel

Coordinate daily activities with the Project Quality Control Manager.
Coordinate inspections, testing, and documentation required by the Quality Control Program.
Support implementation of project safety requirements.
Coordinate with the Site Safety Representative to ensure work activities are properly planned and executed.
Assist in correcting identified quality and safety deficiencies.

Tools, Equipment, and Site Logistics

Manage site logistics, deliveries, storage areas, and equipment utilization.
Coordinate rental equipment and return schedules.
Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and secured.
Maintain organized staging, laydown, and storage areas.
Coordinate material handling and site access requirements.

Project Closeout

Assist with project closeout activities.
Coordinate punch list completion.
Support preparation of as-built drawings and closeout documentation.
Coordinate collection of warranties, operation manuals, testing reports, and closeout documents.
Support warranty inspections and follow-up corrective work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, contracts, and schedules.
Strong understanding of commercial and government construction practices.
Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage complex schedules and maintain project momentum.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and related software.
Ability to prepare professional reports and project documentation.
Spanish language skills preferred.

Education and Experience

Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
Minimum seven (7) years of commercial construction experience.
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman supervising commercial construction projects.
Experience on government construction projects preferred.
Experience managing occupied facility renovations and phased construction projects preferred.

Additional Requirements

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass background checks required for government construction projects.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and off-hours when required by project schedules.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical jobsite activities.
Ability to travel as required.
Professional appearance and conduct at all times.
