Canopies and More is looking for skilled, dependable, and hardworking Welders and Installers to join our growing team.
We specialize in custom-made canopies, pergolas, awnings, metal and wooden fences, sheet metal roofs, shade structures, and signage for residential, commercial, and government projects.

POSITION 1: STICK WELDER / METAL FABRICATOR
We are looking for an experienced Stick Welder who can produce strong, clean, consistent welds while maintaining good production speed.
Welding Responsibilities
- Perform Stick Welding (SMAW) on steel structures and components.
- We primarily use 6011 1/8" welding rods.
- Weld 4x4 steel posts, structural tubing, frames, supports, brackets, and other metal components.
- Fabricate structures for canopies, pergolas, fences, sheet metal roofs, shade structures, signage, and other custom projects.
- Perform special cuts, angles, notches, and custom fabrication when required.
- Cut, fit, assemble, square, level, and weld metal components accurately.
- Read and work from measurements, drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Produce welds that meet our expectations for strength, penetration, appearance, and overall quality.
- Maintain good production speed without sacrificing the quality of the work.
- Inspect completed welds and correct work when necessary.
- Use grinders, saws, drills, torches, and other fabrication tools safely.
- Assist with field installations when required.
- Maintain welding machines, tools, shop areas, and company work trucks.
Welder Qualifications
- Stick Welding (SMAW) experience is required.
- Experience using 6011 1/8" welding rods is strongly preferred.
- Must be comfortable welding 4x4 steel posts and structural steel tubing.
- Must understand proper fit-up, joint preparation, penetration, and weld quality.
- Must know how to perform special cuts and custom welds.
- Must be able to accurately use a tape measure.
- Must be able to fabricate from measurements, drawings, and project specifications.
- Must be able to work independently once project instructions and measurements are provided.
- Must be able to produce clean, strong, professional-quality welds at a good production rate.
- Aluminum fabrication and/or aluminum welding experience is a plus.
- Must take pride in the quality and appearance of completed work.
We are specifically looking for Stick Welding experience. MIG and TIG welding experience are not required for this position.
POSITION 2: CANOPY & CONSTRUCTION INSTALLER
We are also looking for experienced Installers who can work on a variety of residential, commercial, and government projects.
This position requires someone who is comfortable with hands-on construction work, heavy materials, outdoor work, tools, and custom installations.
Installer Responsibilities
- Install canopies, pergolas, awnings, shade structures, sheet metal roofs, metal and wooden fences, signage, and other custom projects.
- Install and properly align steel posts and structural components.
- Dig holes, set posts, and pour concrete to properly secure structures.
- Install sheet metal roofing, framing, trim, and related components.
- Assemble and install fabricated steel structures on-site.
- Measure, level, square, and properly position structures.
- Perform cutting, drilling, grinding, fastening, framing, and assembly as required.
- Read and interpret measurements, drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
- Carry and position steel, wood, sheet metal, fabric, and other construction materials.
- Assist with demolition and removal of existing structures when required.
- Maintain and organize tools and equipment in the shop and company work trucks.
- Keep job sites clean and organized.
- Work with welders, fabricators, and other installers to complete projects efficiently.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable job-site requirements.
- Communicate professionally with customers while working at residential and commercial properties.
Installer Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, canopy installation, sheet metal roofing, metal fabrication, fencing, maintenance, or similar work is preferred.
- Must know how to safely use common hand and power tools.
- Must be able to accurately use a tape measure.
- Must understand basic construction measurements and installation methods.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Must be comfortable working on ladders and at heights when required.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to approximately 80 lbs.
- Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
- Must be willing to work on different types of projects instead of performing only one type of installation.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS
Whether applying as a Welder or Installer, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must have a current, active, and valid driver's license.
- Driver's license must not be expired, suspended, or revoked.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be able to obtain access to Fort Bliss and other military/government installations where Canopies and More performs work.
- Must have no outstanding warrants or other issues that would prevent access to Fort Bliss.
- Must be able to meet any identification, background, or security requirements necessary to obtain installation access.
- Must be dependable and show up on time and ready to work.
- Must be able to follow instructions and measurements accurately.
- Must take care of company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.
- Must follow company and job-site safety requirements.
- Must be willing to work on residential, commercial, and government projects.
- Must be able to work well with others and communicate with supervisors and team members.
- Must maintain a professional attitude while working around customers.
- Must be willing to learn and follow Canopies and More's standards and methods.
90-DAY EVALUATION PERIOD
All new employees will complete an initial 90-day evaluation period.
During the 90-day period, we will evaluate:
- Production and work speed
- Quality of work
- Welding quality and consistency, when applicable
- Installation quality and accuracy
- Ability to complete work without excessive supervision
- Ability to follow measurements, drawings, and instructions
- Attendance and punctuality
- Dependability
- Safety and job-site awareness
- Proper use and care of tools and equipment
- Problem-solving ability
- Teamwork and attitude
- Willingness to learn
- Overall performance and value to the company
Opportunity for a Pay Increase
If during the 90-day evaluation period we see that your production, quality of work, reliability, and overall performance are meeting or exceeding our expectations, you may be considered for a pay increase.
Pay increases are based on performance and are not automatically guaranteed after the 90-day period.
Employees who demonstrate that they can work efficiently, independently, safely, and consistently produce quality work will have opportunities to grow with the company.
