Machine Operator - CNC Laser Metal Cutter

Position Title: CNC Laser Metal Cutter Operator
Department: Production/Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The CNC Laser Metal Cutter Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting equipment used to cut metal materials according to engineering drawings and production specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC programming, blueprint interpretation, quality inspections, and safe operation of laser cutting machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to produce metal parts according to specifications.
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for laser cutting operations.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
Select appropriate materials and verify material thickness and specifications before production.
Perform machine setups, adjustments, and tooling changes as required.
Monitor machine performance and make necessary program adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
Conduct first-piece inspections and ongoing quality checks throughout production runs.
Measure finished products using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring instruments.
Troubleshoot machine and programming issues to minimize downtime.
Maintain production records and documentation accurately.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and housekeeping on assigned equipment.
Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and OSHA regulations.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes and throughput.

QualificationsRequired:

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of CNC machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience programming CNC laser cutting equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and material properties.
Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
Ability to use precision measuring tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred:

Experience with fiber laser cutting machines (Trumpf, Bystronic, Mazak, Amada, Mitsubishi, or similar).
Knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
Forklift certification.
Experience in sheet metal manufacturing or fabrication environments.

Schedule

Available to work overtime, weekends, and various shifts as required by production demands.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
