What does a Registered Behavior Technician Do?
A registered behavior technician (RBT) is a credentialed paraprofessional who supports and implements a 1:1 patient care plan created by a board-certified behavior analyst. RBTs provide ABA interventions that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so clients can build and improve upon their communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills. Direct therapy can be conducted in the child’s home or at an Early Bird Pediatric Therapy clinic.
Behavior Technician job responsibilities include:
· Provide direct patient care in 1:1 while utilizing ABA teaching strategies.
· Teach new skills utilizing a treatment plan that is developed by a Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
· Collect, record, and summarize data each session.
· Complete all session documentation as outlined by Early Bird policies
· Effectively communicate with caregivers regarding patient progress as instructed by BCBA.
· Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with patients and appropriately report all critical incidents and safety concerns.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Applicant needs to be at least 18 years of age or older, and eligible to work in the U.S.
- Pass a background check
- Must have reliable transportation and proof of driver’s license and valid car insurance.
- Valid CPR or BLS certificate.
- Must be able to physically perform this job, play with children, ability to kneel and stand repetitively, and the ability to run/move quickly if required to do so for the interaction with and safety and protection of the children with whom you work.
- Need to be reliable.
- Must always be professional in terms of both presentation and conduct.
- A positive attitude and drive to help a child acquire new skills is a must.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to do repetitive things in a precise manner.
- Ability to follow and carry out detailed instructions.
- Strong understanding of technology to be able to record data on a mobile device and navigate digital applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong cultural competency with ability to remain flexible and open minded.
- Must be available 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
- Bilingual (Preferred)
RBT Training Includes:
- 40-hour online training
- In person training (dates provided upon offer acceptance)
- Competency Assessment (Required for BACB exam approval)
- Support with applying for your RBT credential

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based practice that focuses on understanding behavior. Our ABA team focuses on providing compassionate and individualized treatment to create meaningful, life-long behavior changes. Our ABA team utilizes culturally sensitive assessment processes to identify behaviors for reduction, such as those which can be harmful disruptive to learning. As well as areas where new skills can be introduced to facilitate our learner's life and create socially significant change.
