Center Against Sexual and Family Violence

Job Description

Available Positions:

Client Service Specialist (Part-Time) – Weekday shifts (set schedule)
Client Service Specialist (Part-Time) – 2 Graveyard shifts (11:00 PM–7:00 AM) and 1 weekday shift (2:00 PM–11:00 PM)
Client Service Specialist/Driver (Part-Time) – Weekday shifts (set schedule)

Please Note: These are set schedules based on the operational needs of our 24/7 services. Due to the nature of the work we provide, shift times are fixed and are not available for adjustment.

Supervisor: Lead Client Service Specialist

Status: Non-Exempt

Scope of Duties:

Responsible for providing needed services to ensure the safety and security of the Shelter and its residents. Provide telephone crisis intervention, screen potential clients for appropriate services and/or referrals. Monitor activities and maintain accurate documentations and records in accordance with the Texas Department of Human Services, Office of Attorney General and CASFV policies and procedures.

This is a non-exempt Part-time position

Essential Job Functions:

Provide for the safety, comfort and well-being of residents.
Maintain the security of the facility. Ensure that clients return by curfew and check the facility perimeter regularly.
Provide telephone, text, and web-based chat crisis intervention; make referrals to community agencies, and document referrals.
Respond immediately to telephone calls, texts, and web-based chats and provide information regarding the Centers’ services and programs in an educational manner.
Welcome new clients, and complete intake forms and procedures. Explain the Shelter’s rules and the Center’s policies.
Transport clients as needed and in emergencies.
Explain and enforce Shelter’s guidelines and provide a reason for them.
Provide crisis intervention to residents as appropriate.
Provide hospital accompaniment to support sexual assault survivors during sexual assault examinations, on a monthly on-call and rotation basis for 4 shifts per month, of which two are evenings or weekends.
Maintain files keeping notes and other documents in chronological order. Document all client contacts including but not limited to case notes, follow-up case notes, incident reports, correspondence, and other notes, in accordance with TDHS guidelines and the Center’s procedures.
Accurately document and file necessary client information and daily log, provide status files to Associate Director of Client Advocacy or his/her designee daily.
Provide care for children when absolutely necessary. Encourage and assist them in learning situations.
Bring issues of concern to the Advocate’s and/or supervisors’ attention.
Prepare required monthly reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Perform miscellaneous duties including stocking supplies, setting up blank intake forms, filing, and maintaining a clean work area.
Attend staff meeting and required training.
Be a positive team member.
Perform other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work will be required.

Other Duties:

Enhance the Center’s visibility by attending assigned meetings and representing the agency in the community.
Deliver community presentations as needed.
Represent the agency in a positive manner at all times.
Show respect and compassion for clients at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to demonstrate emotional stability, a positive attitude, patience, empathy, assertiveness, and strong oral and written communication skills.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends.
Must have own transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license, and current insurance.
Agreement to undergo a Criminal History Background check and drug screening.
Must complete required victim advocacy training, with successful passing of test.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Must be client centered - Recognizing the interests of the client as a primary responsibility and provide professional support, guidance, and assistance.

· Maintain high personal and professional standards.

· Must be able to speak to all of the agency’s services/programs fluently.

· Proficiency in basic computer applications.

· Should be creative, articulate and diplomatic.

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

· Strong self-starter who feels comfortable taking the initiative in problem solving in order to meet the needs of clients.

· Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours during peak periods.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds (such as files, office supplies, or donation items) as part of routine office and program responsibilities. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, filing, and operating office equipment is required.

Special Qualifications: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
