READ THIS PART FIRST
This is not an entry-level opening. We need a residential wireman with several years of hands-on residential electrical experience who has a track record of working on their own. You should be able to show up at a custom home, take the plans, lay out your own work, and rough or trim it without someone standing over you.
If you have only ever worked as a helper following someone else's direction, this is not the right job for you, and we would rather say that up front than waste your time. If you can run a house, keep reading.
WHO WE ARE
Phoenix Electric is a small, owner-operated shop doing high-end custom residential, remodels, service work, and light commercial across the Denver metro and the mountain communities. The owner is a master electrician who is on the tools and on the jobs. Quality over volume, no layers of supervisors, and no production quota that pushes you to bury sloppy work behind drywall.
Because the crew is small, the person in this seat gets handed real responsibility on day one. That only works if you already know what you are doing.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Run your own rough-ins on custom homes: layout, drilling, boxes, panels, wire pulls, terminations.
Trim your own work: devices, fixtures, controls, and finish quality that holds up to a homeowner walkthrough.
Handle residential service calls and troubleshoot real problems.
Take off your own material and tell the office what you need before you need it.
Prep your work for inspection and know what the inspector is going to look at.
Keep job notes, time, and materials accurate in Service Fusion on a company phone or tablet.
REQUIRED
Several years of hands-on residential electrical experience. Three or more years is what we have in mind.
A demonstrated history of working independently: running your own rough-ins, trims, and service calls without direct supervision on site. Be ready to talk through specific houses you ran yourself.
Active Colorado Electrical Apprentice registration, or a current Colorado Residential Wireman license. If your registration has lapsed, we will help you get it current.
Valid driver's license and a reliable way to get to our Elizabeth shop or the jobsite.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on ladders, in attics, and in crawlspaces.
Your own hand tools. We supply all power tools, benders, testers, and specialty gear.
A NOTE ON COLORADO LICENSING
On residential work you will run your own jobs. On our light commercial jobs, Colorado rules require that you be registered as an electrical apprentice and supervised by a licensed journeyman or master electrician, so on those jobs you will work under our journeyman or the owner. We follow that to the letter and we expect you to as well.
PREFERRED
Colorado Residential Wireman license already in hand.
Custom or high-end residential rough and trim experience.
Strong service and troubleshooting depth.
Documented hours toward your journeyman license.
Any of the following: EV charger installs, structured wiring, lighting control such as Lutron or Control4, hot tub and pool circuits, well and septic controls, generator transfer switches.
PAY AND BENEFITS
30.00 to 38.00 per hour, based on your experience, your license status, and how much you can run on your own.
Weekly pay, every Friday.
Overtime paid at time and a half over 40 hours.
Health insurance stipend paid monthly toward the plan you choose. To be clear about how this works: we do not run a group health plan. We pay you a monthly stipend that you apply to your own coverage, which most of our people find gives them better plan choice.
401(k) retirement plan access.
Paid time off and paid holidays. Paid vacation after one year, plus Colorado-required paid sick leave.
Crew truck or van for jobsite travel, with a fuel card.
Boot and tool allowance. No cost to you for power tools or specialty equipment.
Referral bonus if you bring us another good electrician.
Pay review at 90 days, then annually.
PATH TO JOURNEYMAN
If you are working toward your journeyman license, we will sign your experience affidavits, make sure you get the variety of hours you need instead of the same task for two years, and reimburse required classroom hours and exam fees once you pass. Advancement here is based on demonstrated skill, not on time served.
SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, typically 7:00am to 3:30pm, with occasional Saturday work by choice at overtime rates.

HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed. Tell us roughly how many years of residential experience you have, and describe one house you ran start to finish mostly on your own. That one answer tells us more than a resume does. Applications accepted through October 3, 2026. Expect a call within a few business days. The owner does the interviews himself.
