Overview of Position
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment and integrated healthcare systems at customer facilities throughout the United States. This position serves as the primary field representative of Maxim Medical Services and plays a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring installations and service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Field Service Technicians work independently and collaboratively with project managers, field leadership, manufacturers, healthcare staff, and subcontractors to support successful project execution. This individual demonstrates professionalism, technical excellence, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement while representing Maxim Medical Services on every customer site.
Essential Functions
Technical Installation & Service
· Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment, operating room lighting systems, equipment booms, equipment management systems, and related healthcare technologies.
· Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and warranty service.
· Pull, terminate, test, and verify data, communication, video, and power cabling.
· Interpret manufacturer installation manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
· Perform equipment testing, commissioning, and final operational verification.
· Identify technical issues and recommend corrective actions to management.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
· Serve as the primary field representative of Maxim Medical Services while on customer sites.
· Develop professional relationships with hospital personnel, customers, contractors, and manufacturer representatives.
· Communicate project progress, service updates, and technical findings clearly and professionally.
· Maintain a positive customer experience by responding promptly and professionally to customer needs.
· Identify opportunities for additional service, repair, or upgrade work and communicate those opportunities to management.
Safety Management
· Perform all work in accordance with OSHA regulations, hospital safety requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.
· Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
· Utilize proper PPE and safe work practices at all times.
· Identify potential safety hazards and communicate concerns immediately.
· Protect customer facilities and equipment throughout all phases of work.
Quality Assurance
· Ensure all installations and service activities meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
· Perform quality inspections prior to project completion.
· Verify system functionality before customer turnover.
· Maintain exceptional workmanship and attention to detail.
· Support punch list completion and project closeout activities when required.
Scheduling & Coordination
· Coordinate daily activities with Field Service Management and Project Management.
· Maintain flexibility to support changing customer schedules and project priorities.
· Coordinate material requirements and communicate shortages proactively.
· Work collaboratively with field teammates, subcontractors, and other trades.
· Support project schedules through efficient planning and execution.
Documentation
· Complete accurate service reports, installation reports, expense reports, and time reporting within company deadlines.
· Document completed work with photographs when required.
· Maintain accurate records of equipment serviced, parts utilized, and customer approvals.
· Communicate project status, field issues, and recommended solutions to management.
· Maintain compliance with all customer documentation requirements.
Equipment & Asset Management
· Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and testing instruments in clean, safe working condition.
· Properly manage inventory, replacement parts, and consumable materials.
· Protect company assets while traveling and working at customer facilities.
· Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly.
· Ensure proper care and organization of assigned equipment.
Professional Development
· Complete all required manufacturer certifications, technical training, safety training, and compliance requirements.
· Maintain vendor credentialing and required immunizations.
· Stay current on emerging healthcare technologies and installation practices.
· Assist in mentoring new technicians and sharing best practices with fellow team members.
· Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualification Requirements
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Associate degree in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electrical Technology, Construction Technology, or related field preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in field service, construction, medical equipment installation, electrical systems, low-voltage systems, or related technical field.
· Experience installing or servicing healthcare equipment preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and electronic diagnostic devices.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with team members.
· Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
· Ability to travel extensively inside and outside the United States, with frequent overnight travel.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Frequently climb ladders and operate aerial lifts.
· Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
· Work in active construction sites and occupied healthcare facilities.
· Ability to wear required PPE.
· Ability to work flexible hours as project schedules require.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
