Clinical TherapistPosition Summary
Ascension Center for Recovery is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Clinical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. The Clinical Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services to adults participating in residential and partial hospitalization (PHP). This position plays a critical role in helping clients achieve lasting recovery through evidence-based therapeutic interventions, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Clinical Therapist promotes a trauma-informed, person-centered approach while ensuring services are delivered in accordance with ASAM Criteria, Kentucky AODE regulations, CARF standards, and organizational policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, substance use evaluations, and risk assessments upon admission and throughout treatment.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy utilizing evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed interventions.
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups focused on recovery, emotional regulation, coping skills, life skills, and relapse prevention.
- Monitor client progress and revise treatment goals based on clinical needs and continued stay criteria.
- Provide crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, de-escalation, and appropriate clinical response to behavioral health emergencies.
- Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, case managers, peer support specialists, and community providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Complete discharge planning, aftercare recommendations, referrals, and transition planning to support ongoing recovery.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required records within established timeframes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, case consultations, utilization review, and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure all clinical services comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Kentucky AODE regulations, CARF standards, and Ascension Center for Recovery policies.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours clinical responsibilities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support quality client care and organizational operations.
QualificationsEducation
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
Licensure
One of the following Kentucky credentials is preferred:
- LCSW
- CSW under approved supervision
- LPCC
- LPCA under approved supervision
- LMFT
- LCADC
- CADC with qualifying master's degree, as permitted by state regulations
Experience
- Experience providing behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment preferred.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Experience in residential treatment, PHP, IOP, or inpatient behavioral health settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of ASAM Criteria, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and recovery-oriented treatment models is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
- Proficiency in individual, group, and family counseling.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment practices for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
- Ability to manage crisis situations with sound clinical judgment.
- Excellent documentation skills utilizing electronic health records.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ethical practice, professional development, and client-centered care.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements, CARF standards, and Kentucky AODE regulations.
Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
