POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will work under a licensed pharmacist to prepare and dispense prescription medications, manage inventory, and provide excellent customer service. Your knowledge of pharmacy procedures, medication preparation, and patient service will help us deliver exceptional service to our community.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Three to six months’ related experience or training is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Registration from the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Pharmacy Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification approved by the American Heart Association upon hire or within the first 60 days of employment and must maintain a valid BLS certification throughout your employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
- Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
- Assist customers by answering simple questions or requests, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.
- Price and file prescriptions that have been filled.
- Receives medication inventory and prices items accordingly.
- Enter prescription data and customer information into pharmacy systems with accuracy.
- Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, or supplies and enter inventory records into pharmacy system.
- Compute charges for medication or equipment dispensed to customers and enter data into the system.
- Prepare and process medical insurance claim forms and records.
- Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual customers.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform Pharmacist of stock needs and shortages.
- Restock intravenous (IV) supplies and add measured drugs or nutrients to IV solutions under sterile conditions to prepare IV packs for various uses, such as chemotherapy medication.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Maintains medication stock and other pharmacy supplies.
- Prepack bulk medicines, fill bottles with prescribed medications, and type and affix labels.
- Transfer medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes, using aseptic techniques.
- Mix pharmaceutical preparations, according to written prescriptions.
- Clean and help maintain equipment or work areas and sterilize glassware, according to prescribed methods.
- Maintains clean room in accordance with aseptic technique standards.
