Position Overview
Bell’s Transport is seeking a dependable and highly organized Safety & Compliance Coordinator to support our Safety & Compliance Manager and assist with the daily administration of our driver safety and DOT compliance program.
This is an excellent position for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working with documentation and deadlines, and interested in developing a career in transportation safety and compliance.
The Safety & Compliance Coordinator will work directly under the Safety & Compliance Manager and will be responsible for maintaining driver records, monitoring required documentation, communicating with drivers, and helping ensure compliance tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Safety & Compliance Manager with daily department operations
- Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files and compliance documentation
- Track CDL, medical certificates, MVRs, insurance documents, and other required credentials
- Monitor expiration dates and obtain updated documentation from drivers
- Assist with FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements and documentation
- Assist with drug and alcohol testing administration and recordkeeping
- Review ELD/HOS information and identify items requiring manager review
- Communicate with drivers regarding missing, expired, or required documents
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical records
- Assist with accident documentation and safety files
- Enter and update driver information in company systems
- Prepare documents and reports requested by the Safety & Compliance Manager
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance reviews
- Follow up with drivers regarding outstanding safety or compliance requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of driver and company information
- Help ensure department deadlines and recurring compliance tasks are completed on schedule
- Perform additional administrative and compliance duties as assigned by the Safety & Compliance Manager
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow-up items
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to confidently communicate requirements to drivers
- Dependability and consistent follow-through
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from a department manager
Preferred:
- Previous transportation, trucking, safety, compliance, dispatch, or administrative experience
- Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Experience maintaining Driver Qualification files
- Familiarity with FMCSA Clearinghouse
- Experience with ELD or fleet management systems such as Motive
- Experience working with independent contractors or commercial drivers
Transportation compliance experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider a strong candidate with excellent administrative skills and the ability to learn.
