Job Summary:
The Well Tender will monitor and maintain the day-to-day operation of producing oil and gas wells. The Well Tender will be responsible for maximizing production efficiency, identifying mechanical issues, and ensuring equipment and sites operate within all environmental and safety regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
· Monitors the daily operation of assigned oil and gas wells to ensure proper functionality and production.
· Inspects pumping units, tank batteries, compressors, GPUs, and other production equipment.
· Records accurate production data, including pressures, volumes, and chemical usage.
· Identifies and reports mechanical issues, leaks, or abnormalities in a timely manner.
· Adjusts equipment settings, levels, and controls to optimize performance.
· Conducts routine maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, and minor repairs.
· Communicates with supervisors and field personnel regarding well status and needed repairs.
· Follows all applicable safety, environmental, and operational guidelines.
· Performs site housekeeping and maintains a clean and organized work area.
· Supports spill prevention and containment measures as needed.
· Responds to alarms or call-outs for operational issues during or after hours.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
· Working knowledge of oil and gas production equipment, including pumping units, separators, tanks, and valves.
· Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and diagnose equipment issues.
· Ability to accurately record and report production data.
· Familiarity with basic mechanical tools and troubleshooting practices.
· Proficient in reading gauges, meters, and using monitoring equipment.
· Comfortable working independently in remote field environments.
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Basic computer or mobile device skills for logging data or submitting reports.
· Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and respond quickly to changing conditions.
· Strong commitment to personal and team safety.
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Prior oilfield production or lease operator experience strongly preferred.
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
· Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
· Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and respond to after-hours call-outs.
· Certifications such as H2S, PEC/Safeland, and First Aid/CPR are a plus (or must be willing to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
· Capable of climbing ladders, stairs, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
· Ability to walk or drive across uneven, rural terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
· Regular exposure to oilfield chemicals, gases, and potentially hazardous conditions.
