Riverside Group LLC is a locally owned design/build and general contracting company serving Bar Harbor and the greater Mount Desert Island area. Our projects include residential renovations, remodels, additions, custom carpentry, property improvements, and new construction.
We take pride in thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and creating lasting relationships with our clients. We are looking for dependable, experienced carpenters who share our attention to detail and take pride in doing excellent work.
Position Overview
The Carpenter will work alongside our project managers and construction team on a variety of residential projects throughout Mount Desert Island. The ideal candidate is comfortable performing both general and finish carpentry and can work independently when needed while also contributing to a collaborative crew.
This is a year-round position with opportunities to work on unique, high-quality projects in some of the area’s most distinctive homes and properties.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential framing, general carpentry, and finish carpentry
- Complete renovation, remodeling, and new-construction work
- Install doors, windows, trim, cabinets, flooring, siding, decking, and interior finishes
- Read and work from plans, drawings, measurements, and project specifications
- Safely and efficiently operate hand tools, power tools, and jobsite equipment
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other members of the construction team
- Identify jobsite issues and help develop practical solutions
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Protect clients’ homes, belongings, and surrounding property
- Communicate professionally with clients and coworkers
- Assist with material planning, measurements, and jobsite preparation
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable building practices
Qualifications
- Previous professional carpentry or residential construction experience
- Working knowledge of framing, trim, and general residential construction
- Ability to complete work accurately and with close attention to detail
- Ability to read a tape measure and use common carpentry tools confidently
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well independently or as part of a team
- Professional and respectful demeanor on occupied residential properties
- Ability to perform physical construction work, including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, bending, and working outdoors
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Personal hand tools are preferred
Finish carpentry, cabinet installation, renovation, or high-end residential experience is especially valuable but not required for the right candidate.

Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Day shift
- Occasional additional hours may be available depending on project schedules
Compensation
$25–$40 per hour, based on experience
