QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
- Significant experience working with children of various age ranges and abilities required.
- Significant experience with business management, administrative tasks, and people management.
- Attend, and be involved in, a local church and/or fellowship.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Include, but are not limited to:
General
- Assist in defining the school’s mission and communicating goals and expectations of King’s Way
- Maintain professional ethics as reflected in Scripture, integrating biblical principles and the biblical worldview throughout the workplace.
- Provide a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff
- Support continuous school improvement
- Administer, regulate and coordinate student discipline and maintain necessary discipline records
- Lead the school in serving the students, their parents, the faculty, and the community at large on a day-to-day basis with a servant’s heart and a God-led vision for the school and a passion for Christ and Christian education
- Provide direction and leadership in the business affairs of the school
- Oversee the development of the annual school calendar with the program coordinator
- Provide effective Biblical leadership to facilitate and continue a pattern of excellence and growth
- Contact parents about students’ well-being
- Support creation of report cards and ensure grades are consistent and comments are appropriate
- Oversee curriculum selection and place order for by 1 week of August. This includes ensuring that curriculum is appropriate for the type and level of student in each classroom.
- Keep track of attendance and excused absences for students
- Contact maintenance personnel as necessary
- Perform all other duties as necessary (i.e. Cleaning bathroom, cleaning up after lunch, doing recess or lunch duty, helping with bathroom time, stepping in a classroom to cover while a teacher uses the bathroom, covering a special if a specials teacher is out for the day)
- File all paperwork as required with the State of NY including but not limited to vaccinations records, LEA Title I-IV documentation, BEDS data, fire and safety inspection and annual reports
- Represent school at IEP/504 meetings, initiate academic testing services at the request of parents
- Hold regular staff meetings
- Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available to teachers and students
- Ascertains student records and transcripts are adequate, accurate and administered legally
- Oversee the development of the annual school calendar
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications as required by King’s Way.
- Participate in all training, and other events, as requested
Public Relations
The King’s Way Academy Head of School is one of the spokespersons for the school with all its internal and external constituencies including students, parents, faculty, staff, neighboring and area public and private schools, the local business community, governmental agencies and local, state, regional and national educational organizations and any accreditation agencies.
- Establish effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and donors
- Assist in leading the school in institutional advancement and development in the areas of fundraising, student recruitment / marketing, and public relations
- Supervise and assist the admissions functions of the school including recruitment programs, marketing, outreach, and website development and maintenance
- Conduct parent/new student tours
- Supervise the admissions decision-making process
- Administration of the school’s financial aid program
- Plan and implement school’s fundraising programs
- Supervise all volunteer efforts
- Answer parent concerns and meet with faculty and families as requested or as necessary
- Frequently maintain/update social media accounts
Finance & Human Resources
- Must have general knowledge/ability and willingness to assist the Finance Leader as needed with general bookkeeping
- Maintain appropriate HR records
- Oversee all employment and human relations matters (ie. contracts, wages, benefits, job assignments, job orientation, personnel records, employee handbook)
- Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel
- Directly supervise all faculty and staff
- Recruit for replacements when there are open positions
- Work with Education Consultant to establish performance goals for teachers
- Create a positive work environment
- Establish a performance improvement plan and terminate employment for those who are unable to perform at an acceptable level
- Work with Education Consultant to set yearly goals with teachers
- Use assessment data to aid teachers as needed
- Develop and implement professional development opportunities for staff and faculty
- Schedule in-service days for faculty. Work with Education Consultant for topics.
Board Relations
The Head of School advises the board but is not responsible for governance matters just as the board advises the HOS but is not responsible for daily management matters. Cooperation with the Board is vital and the HOS and Board members must be mutually respectful. The Head of School is an ex officio, non-voting member of the board and all board committees. Executive Board meetings will take place immediately following regular Board meetings and the HOS is not permitted to attend.
- Attend all board meetings
- Lead and participate in school committee meetings
- Keep the board informed of all matters relating to the school through reports at board meetings and immediate communication following major school events or happenings
- Provide data to assist the board in its work
- Seek direction from the board on new initiatives and before making all financial decisions
- Jointly with board, set annual goals for his/her performance
- Properly file board records and minutes and otherwise assists the board in its work as requested.
Physical Expectations Statement
As part of your role within King’s Way, you will be required to meet the following physical expectations to ensure a safe and effective learning environment for our students:
- Mobility: This position requires the ability to move freely and efficiently around the office and school premises. You will frequently be on your feet for extended periods, engaging with students, supervising activities, and assisting with various tasks. You will also be sitting for large amounts of time at a computer.
- Lifting and Carrying: You must be capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds. This may include but is not limited to, classroom supplies, educational materials, and assisting students as necessary.
- Physical Activity: Some physical activity is required. May vary depending on day and tasks assigned.
- Safety Compliance: Adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures is mandatory to ensure the well-being of both staff and students.
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
