Full Job Description

Job Overview
Serpentini of Strongsville is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing essential accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various financial processes. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial health by handling data entry, account reconciliations, and assisting with booking deals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a collaborative environment that values precision, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Perform data entry for transactions and general ledger entries using accounting software programs such as CDK and V-Auto.
Reconcile balance sheets and perform account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial records.
Assist in preparing journal entries and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Conduct account reconciliation activities including debits & credits, and verify account balances through detailed review and documentation.
Aid in compliance with controls by maintaining proper documentation and supporting audit procedures.
Assist with month-end closing procedures, including balance sheet reconciliation and preparing reports for management review.
Support accounts payable and receivable functions by verifying invoices, processing payments, and managing collections as needed.
Contribute to budgeting activities by providing accurate data analysis and supporting financial reporting efforts.

Qualifications

Proven experience with accounting software such as CDK, etc.
Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping.
Familiarity with GAAP standards and government or non-profit accounting practices is preferred.
Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll management and accounts payable/receivable processes.
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10 key typing is a plus.
Ability to analyze financial data critically and perform account analysis efficiently.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills combined with a solid understanding of financial services concepts; prior experience in public accounting is advantageous.
