Position Summary
This role is responsible for the technical review and approval of all engineered projects, performing and validating structural calculations, maintaining and improving engineering standards, and providing insight and direction in R&D efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority for engineered structural systems, providing oversight, technical guidance, and final approval for projects involving static structural steel and Unistrut-based framing systems.
- Analyze complex structural engineering challenges and develop sound, code‑compliant design solutions using professional engineering judgment.
- Perform, prepare, review, and validate structural calculations for a wide range of steel framing applications, including rooftop platforms, walkways, crossovers, equipment supports, and other industrial structures, ensuring designs account for applicable wind and seismic loading requirements.
- Interpret and apply applicable building codes, standards, and safety regulations to engineered solutions, including OSHA, IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, AITC, NCMA, SJI, and relevant ASTM specifications.
- Stamp and seal engineered drawings and calculations as required, in accordance with professional engineering standards and licensing requirements.
- Clearly document, communicate, and explain engineering assumptions, calculations, design intent, and technical decisions to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Utilize engineering and design software to support accurate modeling, documentation, review, and validation of engineered systems.
- Maintain, document, and continuously improve internal engineering standards, practices, and calculation methodologies to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across projects.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive professional experience in structural engineering, with demonstrated responsibility for analysis, design, and review of steel framing systems.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to stamp and seal engineered drawings and calculations.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying structural engineering principles, methods, and best practices to develop code‑compliant steel framing and support solutions.
- Proven experience performing, reviewing, and validating complex structural calculations with a high degree of accuracy and professional judgment.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and safety regulations, including those governing structural steel, load determination, and construction safety.
- Proficiency with computer‑aided design, structural analysis, and calculation tools used to model, document, and validate engineered systems.
- Sound analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with demonstrated judgment in evaluating complex engineering challenges and selecting appropriate design solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document engineering assumptions, calculations, and decisions and communicate them effectively to internal stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to engineering quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Ohio.
- Experience with complex assemblies, parametric modeling, and BOM‑driven design strategies.
- Experience developing or refining drafting standards, libraries, templates, or workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
- Familiarity with Navisworks, including participation in BIM coordination meetings or multi‑trade model reviews.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA and Hilti PROFIS.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical (2D) and Autodesk Inventor (2D & 3D).
- Working knowledge of Mathcad, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and FOXIT.
- Prior experience reviewing and approving engineered designs in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply creative and analytical thinking to develop practical, code‑compliant structural engineering solutions.

Physical Requirements
Primarily sedentary role requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation, up to 8 hours per day. Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer, keyboard, and phone operation. Ability to read, write, and review technical documentation and drawings. Occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, and light physical activity. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, as required.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch. Flexible scheduling and remote work options may be available with supervisor approval.
Travel
No consistent travel is required. Occasional site visits or installation observations may be available for training or project coordination purposes.
