Sun Ag is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Sales Agronomist to join our team at our Emden, Illinois location. This position plays a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of our customers while serving as a trusted agronomic advisor and sales partner.
The Sales Agronomist will utilize, integrate, and promote cutting-edge agronomic approaches, technologies, and crop management strategies to help customers maximize yield potential, reduce production risk, and increase return on investment. Through strong relationships, proactive communication, and technical expertise, this individual will lead customer conversations and deliver customized solutions that drive results.
This role requires a self-motivated individual with excellent time management skills, a willingness to work outside traditional office hours during seasonal demands, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Lead agronomic and business-focused customer conversations.
- Provide customized recommendations for crop nutrition, crop protection, seed, and agronomic programs.
- Educate customers on emerging technologies, products, and agronomic practices.
- Identify opportunities to help customers improve productivity and profitability.
Agronomic Support & Sales
- Conduct field scouting, evaluations, and crop assessments.
- Utilize agronomic data, field observations, and technology tools to develop recommendations.
- Promote and support precision agriculture and other innovative solutions.
- Generate sales of agronomy products and services while helping customers achieve their production goals.
- Stay current on industry trends, products, and agronomic advancements.
Operations & Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with management and operations personnel to facilitate timely application services and product delivery.
- Coordinate logistics to ensure customer needs are met efficiently.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns and service issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Support location goals and initiatives through effective communication and teamwork.
Professional Responsibilities
- Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet customer expectations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent Sun Ag positively within the community.
- Safely operate and maintain assigned company vehicle and equipment.

Qualifications:
Professional Responsibilities
- Associate’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or a related field; or
- Minimum of three (3) years of agronomic sales, crop consulting, or related agricultural experience.

Pay: $41,745.54 - $74,360.22 per year
