Job Title: General Manager
Location: Del Mar or Rancho Bernardo, CA (On-site)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $95,000 – $110,000 per year (Based on experience and qualifications)
About Bermuda Club
Bermuda Club is a modern private membership club built around how top professionals actually live — productive, health-focused, and community-driven. We combine coworking, golf, wellness, and social connection under one roof so members can Work Well. Play Well. Be Well.
Our members are founders, executives, and accomplished professionals who expect a premium experience that feels genuine, not corporate. No stuffiness. No pretense. No a**holes, that is our motto. A well-run, beautifully designed environment where serious people do serious things and take care of themselves in the same place.
We opened our flagship location in Carlsbad in 2024 and are expanding to Del Mar and Rancho Bernardo in summer 2026.
The Opportunity
We're not filling a seat. We're hiring a founding General Manager for a brand-new Bermuda Club — the person who will define what this location becomes from day one.
We have a strong operating foundation built from our flagship Carlsbad location — proven systems, clear standards, and a playbook that works. What we're looking for is someone who will execute that playbook with conviction, hold the standard daily, and help us sharpen it as we grow. Coachable and autonomous. Those aren't opposites here.
Position Overview
The General Manager is the on-site leader of the club and the person ultimately responsible for making the experience excellent every single day. This is not a back-office manager role. It is not a pure sales role, but sales leadership is a critical part of the position. The General Manager is expected to be comfortable selling, leading by example, and personally helping drive membership growth. It is a hands-on operating leadership position that owns the member experience, the team, the P&L, and the operational standards.
You set the tone in the building. The right person is equally comfortable reviewing a P&L, coaching a team member, walking a prospect through the club, resolving a member issue, and jumping into the operational details when something is off. That range of capability is not optional — it's the job.
This Role Owns
- Member experience — from the first tour to ongoing retention
- Team leadership — hiring, developing, and holding a small on-site team accountable
- P&L performance — revenue, labor, controllable expenses, and location targets
- Operational standards — facility, systems, programming, and day-to-day readiness
- Membership growth and sales leadership — driving membership growth in partnership with the Membership Sales Manager
What Success Looks Like
- Grow active membership in a sustainable way without compromising the quality of the club experience
- Maintain strong retention by creating a club that feels consistent, personal, and worth talking about
- Lead, coach, and develop a small on-site team that executes with urgency and professionalism
- Own key financial results — revenue, controllable costs, labor discipline, and location performance
- Keep the facility, systems, and standards running at a high level every day — not just when leadership visits
- Build strong local visibility through hospitality, community presence, and smart local partnerships
Core ResponsibilitiesMember Experience & Operations
- Own day-to-day club performance — member experience, facility standards, programming support, and issue resolution
- Establish and maintain clear operating rhythms: opening and closing standards, cleanliness, event readiness, and recovery area upkeep
- Create a high-touch member environment — know members by name, learn their routines, resolve issues before they escalate
- Lead from the front: no leader at Bermuda Club is above resetting a room, folding towels, or fixing a facility issue in real time
Membership Growth & Retention
- Drive membership growth in partnership with the Membership Sales Manager through tour execution, disciplined follow-up, closing prospective members, and delivering an exceptional onboarding experience
- Coach the Membership Sales Manager on pipeline management, lead follow-up, tour quality, and closing effectiveness
- Personally own high-value prospects, key referral relationships, and strategic membership opportunities while supporting long-term member retention
Team Leadership
- Hire, onboard, train, and develop all on-site team members
- Create a team culture built on clear standards, accountability, and genuine hospitality
- Coach directly and early — do not let performance issues linger
- Model urgency, ownership, and professionalism every day
Financial & Business Management
- Manage the location P&L with clear understanding of revenue drivers, labor, controllable expenses, and performance targets
- Coordinate with senior leadership on reporting, staffing needs, club improvements, and local marketing
- Operate systems including CRM, scheduling, and reporting dashboards with fluency

- Support events, programming, and partner activations with professional execution
- Build local visibility through community presence, business relationships, and on-brand hospitality
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 3+ years of leadership experience in hospitality, membership, golf, boutique fitness, premium service, coworking, or a similarly service-intensive environment
- Demonstrated success leading people, holding standards, and improving team performance
- Demonstrated personal sales success is required. Candidates should have experience personally selling a premium product or service, managing a sales pipeline, and consistently closing business. Experience with membership sales, hospitality, private clubs, boutique fitness, luxury service, coworking, or other relationship-based sales environments is strongly preferred.
- Experience using CRM type software is required. You should be comfortable managing leads, tracking pipeline activity, documenting customer interactions, scheduling follow-up, and using CRM reporting to drive performance. Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar is strongly preferred.
- Experience owning or meaningfully managing a P&L, budget, labor model, or business unit financial performance
- Strong interpersonal presence and communication skills in a hospitality-forward environment
- Comfort operating in a growing business with strong systems that continue to evolve — you execute what works and help improve what doesn't
- Schedule flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and weekends based on club needs
Strong Advantage:
- Pre-opening or new location launch experience
- Startup or entrepreneurial environment background
- Track record of developing team members who went on to bigger roles
- Experience selling memberships, recurring revenue services, or other relationship-based offerings using a consultative sales approach
- Experience with club management software (Optix or similar)
What This Role Is Not
- A desk job or back-office manager position
- A pure sales role — though you'll care deeply about membership growth
- A passive management position where delegation alone creates results
- A corporate GM role with a support team behind every decision
- A fit for someone who can only perform inside a fully corporate, top-down structure with no room to influence how things are done
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $95,000 – $100,000
- Performance Bonus: Up to $10,000 annually (membership growth + P&L performance)
- Total Potential: Up to $110,000
- Full Bermuda Club membership while employed
- Direct path to growth as we expand beyond Southern California
- Health benefits and paid vacation plan
