About the Role We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Claims & Patient Intake Specialist to join our busy healthcare team. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for workers' compensation claims, patient registration, and insurance verification. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume ambulatory clinic environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients, adjusters, and vendors receive accurate information and excellent service. Key Responsibilities Patient Intake & Registration: Register new patients, create and maintain workers' compensation cases, and ensure all required claim data is entered accurately into the system. Claims Adjudication & Follow-Up: Receive and process medical claims and bills for payment or denial. Follow up with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, employers, and claims adjusters to obtain claim details, authorizations, and payment information. Customer Support: Answer a high volume of incoming calls, assisting injured workers, employers, adjusters, and internal staff with workers' compensation-related inquiries. Research & Issue Resolution: Research claims and bills for appropriate supporting documentation. Analyze and adjust data and benefits criteria for payment, and proactively respond to vendor and patient problems or complaints. Required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical claims processing, workers' compensation, patient registration, insurance verification, or a related healthcare administrative role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams. Core Competencies: strong customer service and telephone communication skills. Must be comfortable managing high call volumes, multiple priorities, and strict accuracy requirements in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with direct experience handling workers' compensation cases and claims follow-up. Systems: Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (Epic preferred). Familiarity with scheduling systems, document management, and basic reporting tools. Work Environment & Additional Details Setting: This is a 100% onsite role located in a patient access building.
