Job Title: Asphalt Technician & Sr. Asphalt Technician

Duration: 6 months plus extensions; conversion to FTE is possible based on performance.

40 hours per week, OT possible/as needed
Schedule: M-F, 8 am to 5 pm
Pay Rate: $$32.93/hr for Sr. Asphalt Technician with Associate Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or Physical Science with 5+ years of related experience; OR BS Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or Physical Science; OR 7+ years of related work experience.
Pay Rate: $28.37/hr on W2 for Asphalt Technician with a high school diplomaa high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience (such as a co-op, internship, or job), OR 1–3 years of related experience.

This role is designed for a proactive problem-solver who thrives on non-routine challenges and complex experimental work. You will lead project sections, refine evaluation protocols, and serve as a technical anchor for the R&D team.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
● Handles and understands non-routine tasks or experimental portions of larger projects.
● Manages own time independently to deliver project objectives and set schedules.
● Recognizes when experiments or tests do not go as expected and diagnoses the underlying issues.
● Contributes directly to Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development.
● Conducts experiments to improve upon or duplicate previous results.
● Develops new evaluation protocols independently and/or in collaboration with a Scientist/Engineer.
Job Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
● Plans own day-to-day work activities.
● Initiates and stimulates investigations into improvements for existing products/processes and the development of new ones.
● Assists in all trial runs, field evaluations, and the analysis of customer requirements.
● Supports production trials and tests alongside a Scientist/Engineer.
● Coordinates the use of both internal and external resources to achieve product goals.
● Manages specific project sections, which may involve collaborating with other groups or teams.
● Performs formulation characterization and analyzes processes, products, or equipment against desired results.
● Maintains laboratory equipment in an operable, clean, and calibrated condition, performing preventive maintenance as needed.

● Interacts with vendors to procure equipment, chemicals, and materials for the department.
● Interacts with other R&D groups, counterparts in other company functions, and participates in laboratory safety and continuous improvement teams.
● Demonstrates strict adherence to confidential information management.
● Demonstrates the ability to present meaningful results and unbiased conclusions.
● Composes clear written communications, including logical summaries of information, memos, reports, and presentations.
Required Skills & Competencies
● High level of expertise in testing and/or sample preparation.
● Demonstration of independent thinking and data interpretation.
● Proven ability to perform and interpret product quality, mechanical, and environmental test results.
● Ability to set up and complete technology laboratory projects while maintaining and auditing thorough records in laboratory notebooks.
● Can effectively communicate with external stakeholders and manage lab/production schedules.
Education & Experience
