Now Hiring: Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Manager

We are in search of an experienced Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Manager to oversee and support documentation accuracy efforts within a dynamic acute care setting. This pivotal position collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, HIM, coding specialists, quality assurance teams, and revenue cycle experts to ensure precise, compliant, and comprehensive clinical documentation that accurately reflects the severity of illness and level of patient care.

Position Summary
The CDI Manager plays a key role in recognizing opportunities for enhancing clinical documentation related to ICD-10, UHDDS, CMS guidelines, quality indicators, and reimbursement practices. This position offers operational supervision of concurrent query processes, spearheads initiatives for enhancing documentation precision, evaluates patterns, and devises strategies to enhance clinical documentation integrity and overall organizational performance.

Qualifications

Option 1:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program
5 years of clinical nursing experience
3 years of CDI experience
2 years of CDI leadership experience

Option 2:

International Medical Graduate (MD)
5 years of experience in acute care settings
1 year of CDI experience
2 years of CDI leadership experience

Option 3:

Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or Health Information Technology
4 years of experience in acute care coding/abstracting
2 years of CDI leadership experience

Required Certifications
Applicants must possess relevant certifications which may include:

CCDS or CCDS-O
CDIP
CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CPC-P
A Nevada RN license is mandatory for nursing candidates

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily CDI operations and concurrent query reviews
Collaborate with physicians, APPs, HIM, Coding, Quality, and Revenue Cycle teams
Identify opportunities for documentation enhancement affecting reimbursement and quality outcomes
Analyze data trends and implement sustainable workflow advancements
Ensure adherence to ICD-10, CMS, UHDDS, and regulatory documentation standards
Support accurate portrayal of Severity of Illness (SOI), Risk of Mortality (ROM), medical necessity, quality measures, and length of stay
Aid in staff development, training, and performance evaluations
Enhance documentation quality concerning HACs, PSIs, DRGs, and reimbursement accuracy

The ideal candidate should possess exceptional analytical skills, communication abilities, and the capacity to influence documentation practices within interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Expertise

Proficiency in MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies
Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 coding and reimbursement regulations
Expertise in quality metrics, core measures, and compliance standards
Skill in clinical data analysis and reporting
Leadership background in acute care CDI settings
