The School-Based Behavior Support Paraeducator provides school-wide support to students with Tier 1+ and Tier 2 behavioral, social-emotional, and engagement needs across general educational settings in grades 6–8. This role supports the development of positive classroom and school environments through relationship-building, restorative practices, student check-in/check-out systems, classroom reintegration support, and targeted behavioral interventions. The paraeducator collaborates with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to monitor student progress, implement intervention plans, collect and document behavioral data, and provide proactive support that promotes student belonging, accountability, and success. The position also assists in crisis response and de-escalation in accordance with established school and district protocols while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and district epectations.

Provide school-wide behavioral, social-emotional, and engagement support to students in the general education setting by implementing intervention plans, collecting and documenting student data, providing proactive support to promote student belonging and engagement in the classroom; and assisting in crisis situations in accordance with established school and district protocols, laws, and evidence-based practices under the direction of assigned staff.

Provide direct student support in building the skills/strategies to successfully follow individualized plans.

Collaborate with teachers, administration and support staff on implementation, progress monitoring and refining of individual student plans.

Consult and collaborate with administration and support staff to address student barriers to learning using strengths-based approaches that respect student autonomy, communication and needs.

Ongoing collection of student progress monitoring data to inform student progress on specified goals over time.

Maintain student confidentiality, following state regulations and district protocols around confidentiality.

Participate in student support meetings to support implementation of student plans and maintain behavioral, de-escalation, and restorative justice skill specialty.

Attend required professional development, including CPI, CPR, and First Aid. Maintain certification in these areas.
Support eloping students by keeping them within 3-5 feet to ensure the student remains safe. Must be physically able to run with students to keep them safe in close pro- imity.

When requested, provide input and/or participate in parent meetings to address student progress and need to successfully be engaged in the general education classroom.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one years of relevant e- perience working with students with behavioral needs.

Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds; diaper, feed; complete other delegated nursing and health care duties.

Must be able to run or jog when needed for student safety.

Candidates with current or previous e
- perience as Registered Behavior Technician, Restorative JusticeCoordinators, or Special Education Paraprofessionals.
Positive communication, interaction and work e- perience with diverse people.

Basic bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Salary Placement varies according to eperience and education.
- Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (eisting employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
