Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and service-oriented Benefits & Leave Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This position is responsible for the administration of employee benefits programs and leave management processes, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements.
The Benefits & Leave Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefit enrollment, leave requests, FMLA administration, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation coordination, and related programs. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, exceptional customer service skills, and a thorough understanding of benefits and leave administration.
Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement benefit programs.
- Assist in annual open enrollment activities.
- Educate employees regarding available benefit options and program changes.
- Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Serve as liaison between employees and benefit vendors.
- Coordinate benefit billing reconciliation and reporting.
- Maintain benefit records and related documentation.
- Assist with wellness initiatives and employee benefit communications.
Leave Administration
- Administer Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests and documentation.
- Coordinate employee leave of absence programs, including medical, personal, military, and paid leave programs.
- Manage intermittent leave tracking and compliance.
- Facilitate ADA accommodation requests and interactive process documentation.
- Coordinate return-to-work processes and fitness-for-duty requirements.
- Maintain confidential leave records and reporting.
Workers' Compensation
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims with employees, managers, medical providers, and third-party administrators.
- Track claims, lost-time incidents, and return-to-work activities.
- Assist in identifying trends and opportunities to improve workplace safety and reduce costs.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare required reports and audits related to benefits and leave programs.
- Maintain accurate data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Assist with Human Resources projects and initiatives as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in benefits administration, leave administration, or Human Resources.
- Working knowledge of:
- FMLA
- ADA
- COBRA
- HIPAA
- Workers' Compensation
- Employee Benefits Administration
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Healthcare Human Resources experience.
- Experience administering self-funded healthcare plans.
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), SHRM-CP, PHR, or related certification.
- Experience with leave management software and HRIS platforms.

Pay: $53,888.39 - $64,897.85 per year
