About Us
Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc. provides compassionate support and services to individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in Delta, Schoolcraft and Menominee Counties; a geographic area of over 5,100 square miles. We are seeking two (2) dedicated part-time Residential Care Advocates to join our team and help ensure a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for our clients.
Position Summary
Our Residential Care Advocates are responsible for providing crisis intervention, emotional support, and daily assistance to shelter residents and non-residential clients. This position helps maintain the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the facility while adhering to agency policies, laws and upholding client confidentiality.
Residential Care Advocate – Position 1

Schedule
- Up to 36 hours per week
- Primarily overnight, evening, and weekend shifts
- Holidays
- May require occasional on-call coverage

RCA Responsibilities
Client Support & Advocacy
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and first-response services to clients in person or by phone.
- Conduct client intakes, departures, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Support clients in making informed decisions and accessing community resources.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and obtain required releases when necessary.
- Assist in creating a safe, stable, and supportive living environment.
Shelter Operations
- Maintain cleanliness of shelter, office, garage, and outdoor areas, including room preparation, light yard work, and snow removal.
- Organize and manage the food pantry and donations, including sorting, distributing, and proper storage.
- Follow all safety, security, sanitation, and health protocols.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with staff and community partners; assist in training new staff or volunteers.
- Communicate client or operational concerns to the Executive Director promptly.
- Attend staff meetings and maintain flexibility in scheduling.
- Uphold agency mission, policies, and professional standards.
Administrative Duties
- Complete required reports and maintain documentation in compliance with funding requirements.
- Ensure agency procedures are consistently followed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; human services experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs frequently.
- Ability to perform daily cleaning tasks and basic outdoor maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to respond compassionately during crisis situations.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, internet).
- Must pass a background check.
- Commitment to serving individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
