The Solar Site Superintendent will oversee utility scale solar construction projects in the USA. NESCO is an EPC solar contactor that designs and constructs utility scale projects ranging in size from 1-20 mw. The individual in this position is dependable, hardworking, willing to learn and is an exceptional leader in the field. Work assignment durations are between 2 and 6 months. This position travels 100% of the time.
Location and Travel: our current projects are located in Illinois, Washington, and Colorado. This position requires geographic mobility, and the chosen candidate must live near the job site for the duration of the project. NESCO employees receive per diem, mileage reimbursement, paid time off, and other company benefits. Employees are encouraged to travel home as often as practicable.
Main Responsibilities:
· Overall project Safety, Quality, and Efficiency
· Mentoring Field Foreman and Assistant Superintendent in both mechanical and electrical scopes.
· Coordinate and manage all on-site activities.
· Resource management by coordinating labor, equipment, and materials to meet project deadlines and requirements.
· Work with Project Managers, Foremen, Engineers, and Field Personnel to deliver successful projects to owners, on time and on budget, without sacrificing quality.
Other Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all safety aspects at the site, including Safety Walks in the field, orientation of new employees, temp workers, site visitors, and contractors.
· Responsible for all Quality Control activity on site, performing QC assessments of work by technicians and subcontractors.
· Daily response to email and phone calls from customers and crew.
· Responsible for data collection, work order processing, and summary reports.
· Responsible for providing general supervision & development of 15-100 employees at the site.
· Use knowledge and experience to optimize site performance.
· Determine daily schedules and assignments for work activities and post on the job board.
· Determine and post daily production for all crew’s project steps.
· Manage on-site technicians, including contractors.
· Ensure assigned team members perform key metrics.
· Oversee reactive and corrective maintenance projects.
· Manage tools and part inventories.
· Investigate accidents and injuries and prepare reports of findings.
· Determine and manage maintenance schedules.
· Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly operations reports are prepared and submitted on time to NESCO management.
· Always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
· Provides guidance, training, and direction to subordinates, including setting sites and individual goals, and performance standards.
· Act in the long-term interest of the customer.
· All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Minimum 2 years of construction management education, or 4 years construction management work experience, including a proven track record of managing/supervising large scale construction projects with a crew of 20 plus.
· Solar OR utility experience is preferred but not required. A renewable energy background is a plus.
· Must be willing to work hands on with the installation crews.
· Possesses great communication skills to interface effectively with subcontractors and clients.
· Able to read and understand construction plans (civil, electrical, and structural).
· Strong field background in heavy construction
· Ability to work outside daily in adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, ranging from 0 to 110 degrees F.
· Ability/flexibility to travel for short- and long-term periods. Must live near the project for duration of the assignment. The company will provide all accommodation and per diem based on company criteria.
· Skilled in MS 365 and Procore
· Overtime required based on project needs.
· Clean motor vehicle record and means of transportation.
· OSHA 30 certified.
· First Aid and CPR certified.
· Pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
