Position Summary
Eagle Mountain Plumbing & Mechanical is seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber with genuine, hands-on HVAC installation experience to join our residential and commercial field crews. This role requires the ability to move seamlessly between plumbing rough-in, top-out, and trim work and HVAC equipment installation and startup, across both new construction and remodel projects. Candidates should bring real installation experience with heating and cooling systems, not incidental exposure, and be capable of managing that scope of work independently.
This is a full-time field position based out of our San Diego office, with assignments across San Diego County spanning new construction and remodel work for both residential and commercial clients. Crews periodically take on out-of-area projects involving short-term travel and per diem or lodging arrangements; this role should expect to participate in that rotation as workload requires.
What You'll Do
- Perform journeyman-level plumbing work on new construction and remodel projects, including rough-in, top-out, and trim installation of piping, fixtures, water heaters, and drainage systems for residential and commercial jobs.
- Install and start up HVAC systems, including split systems, package units, ductwork connections, and refrigerant line sets, on both new builds and remodels, in coordination with the lead technician or on a standalone basis depending on the job.
- Read blueprints, plan sets, permits, and manufacturer specifications to install plumbing and HVAC systems to code, and adapt installation plans on remodel projects to fit existing conditions and the client's or general contractor's timeline.
- Coordinate with electricians, general contractors, and other trades on job sites where plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work overlap during various stages.
- Prepare for and support building department inspections at each stage of new construction and remodel work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, including proper handling of refrigerants and disposal of materials and debris in line with local and state regulations.
- Communicate directly with property owners, general contractors, or site supervisors about scope of work, schedule, and any changes, representing Eagle Mountain Plumbing & Mechanical professionally.
- Accurately complete required job documentation, material lists, and time records for each project.
- Mentor helpers and apprentices assigned to your crew, reinforcing safe work practices and quality standards.
What You Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of journeyman-level plumbing experience with the ability to work under a licensed qualifier.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on HVAC installation experience, including split system and package unit installs.
- Working knowledge of California Plumbing Code and Mechanical Code as applied to residential and commercial new construction and remodel installations.
- Comfortable using standard plumbing and HVAC tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. with assistance; comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and confined spaces, and tolerating outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel for out-of-area assignments as needed, typically with advance notice.
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated record of reliability and follow-through.
Compensation & Schedule
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Pay is based on experience and will be discussed directly with candidates during the interview process. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
