Position Overview
New Vision Health & Wellness is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Social Work Intern to join our behavioral health and community-services team.
This internship is designed for a bachelor’s- or master’s-level social-work student who needs an approved practicum, internship, or field-placement experience. The intern will receive supervised, hands-on experience serving children, adolescents, adults, and families in a community behavioral health setting.
The Social Work Intern will assist with client support, resource coordination, community outreach, documentation, program development, and other activities that align with the student’s academic learning agreement and level of training.
Primary Responsibilities
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, the Social Work Intern may:
- Assist with client intake, screening, and orientation activities.
- Help identify client needs, strengths, goals, and barriers to services.
- Research and provide information about community resources.
- Support referrals for housing, food, employment, transportation, healthcare, education, and other basic needs.
- Assist case managers and clinical staff with care-coordination activities.
- Participate in supervised client follow-up and engagement.
- Help facilitate educational, prevention, support, or skills-building groups when approved.
- Observe assessments, treatment-planning meetings, case consultations, and other behavioral health activities.
- Complete assigned documentation and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, and professional-development activities.
- Assist with community outreach, events, and partnership-building efforts.
- Support the development of resource guides, educational materials, and community programs.
- Follow confidentiality requirements, professional boundaries, ethical standards, school requirements, and New Vision policies.
- Immediately report safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, crises, or changes in a client’s condition to the assigned supervisor.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s- or master’s-level social-work program.
- Eligible to complete an approved internship, practicum, or field placement.
- Approval or anticipated approval from the student’s college or university.
- Interest in behavioral health, case management, community services, youth and family services, substance-use services, re-entry support, or healthcare social work.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, professional, and receptive to feedback.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, staff, families, schools, and community partners.
- Ability to work in person at New Vision’s Euclid office.
- Ability to complete required background checks, orientation, and training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer, employment, or academic experience in behavioral health, social services, education, case management, youth programs, or community outreach.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered practices.
- Experience working with diverse individuals, families, or underserved communities.
- Interest in continuing employment with New Vision after graduation and obtaining Ohio social-work licensure.

Supervision and School Coordination
New Vision will work with the student’s college or university to establish an approved learning agreement, internship schedule, supervision plan, and evaluation process.
The intern’s responsibilities will be based on the student’s academic level, demonstrated competency, school requirements, and the scope approved by New Vision and the educational institution.
Compensation, weekly hours, academic-credit requirements, supervision arrangements, and the expected length of the internship will be discussed during the selection process.
Pay: $24.52 - $29.53 per hour
