Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting surgeons during surgeries across various specialties. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment committed to delivering exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes and patient safety.

Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments and arranging surgical supplies according to procedure requirements.
Assist surgeons during operative procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies efficiently.
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent contamination.
Monitor patient vital signs and provide support during surgery, including managing emergency situations when necessary.
Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and intraoperative observations accurately.
Ensure proper handling of medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms.
Support preoperative and postoperative patient care activities, including patient positioning and wound management.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, critical care units such as ICU or PICU, and trauma centers to deliver comprehensive care.
Maintain proficiency in suturing techniques and basic life support (BLS) procedures.
Assist with inventory management of surgical supplies and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

Skills

Proven experience as a Surgical Technologist in hospital settings, ambulatory surgery centers, or trauma centers.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic for documentation and data management.
Demonstrated ability to perform data collection accurately during surgical procedures.
Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
Skilled in aseptic technique, suturing, and managing vital signs during surgeries.
Ability to work effectively under pressure within acute care environments including ICU or pediatric units (PICU).
Excellent analysis skills for assessing patient responses and intraoperative needs.
Knowledge of hospital medicine, emergency medicine protocols, and critical care practices.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining medical records and supply inventories.
Ability to communicate clearly with team members across diverse healthcare disciplines. This position is integral to delivering high-quality surgical care while fostering a safe environment for patients.
