Full Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE -

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs across a large, multi-division nonprofit organization. The Safety Manager will lead Agency efforts in regulatory compliance, hazard prevention, incident response, emergency preparedness, and safety training, while fostering a culture of safety and accountability across all departments.

2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -

· Develop, implement, and continuously improve agency-wide health and safety policies and procedures.

· Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards.

· Establish safety protocols tailored to diverse environments including retail stores, warehouses, shelters, and housing.

· Conduct regular site inspections and hazard assessments across all facilities.

· Investigate accidents, injuries, near-misses, and safety complaints; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans.

· Track incident trends and recommend preventive strategies.

· Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and insurance purposes.

· Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, volunteers, and residents where appropriate.

· Provide onboarding safety orientation for new hires across all departments.

· Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, coaching, and engagement initiatives.

· Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire codes, health department regulations, housing safety standards, and nonprofit operational guidelines.

· Maintain required safety logs, training records, and inspection documentation.

· Coordinate with external regulators, inspectors, and auditors as needed.

· Develop and maintain emergency response and evacuation plans for all facility types.

· Partner with Management teams to integrate safety practices into daily operations.

· Collaborate with Management teams on injury prevention and workplace safety initiatives.

3. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -

· Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety/ergonomic standards and good housekeeping practices.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE -

· Bachelor's degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field preferred

· At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment or similar environment

· Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards

· Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

· Ability to travel in and out of town as required/needed to conduct safety inspections.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be willing to travel

· Valid Driver License
