ABOUT US

CFD, an outpatient behavioral health and substance abuse treatment agency, is seeking a qualified Peer Support Specialist to join our team.

The Behavioral Health Resource Network (BHRN) Peer Support Specialist (PSS)will offer peer support to individuals in the community as they access our low barrier recovery services. The person in this position will need to be available four days a week to work with individuals at CFD offices and in the community. The PSS is a dedicated, diverse, and valued team member focused on helping clients navigate community resources, facilitate recreational therapeutic activities, and provide skill-building tools. In addition to the direct client work, the PSS will participate in organizational meetings, collaborate with community partners, and complete paperwork (including electronic health record information).

The BHRN PSS will provide low barrier peer services on a one-time as well as ongoing basis with clients. Job duties specific to this peer position include:

- Regularly staffing the recovery programs low barrier access point during open hours Monday – Thursday

- Working closely with recovery program case manager to support low resourced, high need individuals

- Collaborating with BHRN partner agencies to provide low barrier access to services for shared clients

- Transporting clients to BHRN partner agencies and other community-based agencies for essential behavioral and physical health services and to facilitate accessing of community resources

- Representing CFD at community outreach events

- Providing basic overview of recovery program services and offerings

- Understanding and providing harm reduction best practices

- Responding to acute mental health and/or substance use related crisis

Work hours can be somewhat flexible based on employee and client schedule availability.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Background check. Not all convictions are instant disqualifiers for hire. Please consider applying even if you have previous infractions.

Oregon driver’s license, insurance, and safe driving history. This job requires use of a personal vehicle: a per mile reimbursement of driving expenses is provided.

Lived experience with recovery from substance use.

Continuous Abstinence. A PSS recovering from a substance use disorder and providing peer support services in the Recovery Program must be able to document continuous abstinence under independent living conditions or recovery housing for the immediate past two years.

Certification as a Peer Support Specialist in Addictions through OHA, Oregon Health Authority, or Certified Recovery Mentor certification through MHACBO required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience providing peer support.

Bilingual, in particular the ability to speak Spanish. A differential may be provided if part of the position.
