About the Position

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services is seeking compassionate, motivated individuals to join our team as Developmental Disabilities Specialists. This posting may be used to fill positions in several program areas—including Service Coordination, Eligibility, and Oregon Needs Assessment (ONA)—based on program needs and the experience, skills, and interests of final candidates.

About the Role
DD Specialists support children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Collaborating with individuals, families, guardians, advocates, service providers, and community partners across a variety of settings is a fundamental component of all DD Specialist positions. DD Specialists must also maintain clear and accurate documentation, utilizing electronic platforms, in accordance with county and state rules.

Depending on assignment, more specific duties may include:

Completing the Oregon Needs Assessment (ONA) through document review, face-to-face contact and an interview process with the individual, family/guardian, service providers and other supports. This position interacts with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in a variety of different settings.
Services Coordination through person-centered planning in collaboration with people we serve and their circle of support. Services Coordinators are also responsible for authorizing and monitoring the provision of funded I/DD services and providing referrals for community resources that are not directly funded by our service delivery system.
Conducting intake and eligibility determinations by collecting and reviewing medical, school, and psychological records, and applying complex eligibility criteria. You will collaborate extensively with applicants, family members, advocates, referring partners, and medical professionals to gather the information needed to make this determination

About the Division

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services strives to provide a responsive, cooperative lifespan delivery system of support, training, care, monitoring, protection and crisis response for persons with developmental disabilities and their families. Services are designed to maximize opportunities for self-determination and self-sufficiency.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

*This is an AFSCME represented position*

This position is budgeted for a maximum of 1,040 hours during the fiscal year.
Hybrid telework may be optional or a condition of employment depending on the needs of the division at the time of hire.

QUALIFICATIONS

Training:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

One year of experience of working with persons with developmental disabilities.
An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Notes:

Offers of employment are contingent on successfully passing the Oregon DHS ORCHARDS Background check.
Offers of employment are contingent upon consenting to and successfully passing a drug screening test.

Health insurance coverage becomes effective the first of the month following your first 30-days as an eligible employee.

Medical/Rx/Vision - Lane County offers medical, prescription and vision exam coverage for you and your eligible dependents. The plan options and costs per month for 2026 are outlined below:

If you enroll in the HDHP the County will contribute to your HSA:

For eligible members of unions LCPOA, 626, Admin Pro, and AFSCME Physicians $1,700 for individual coverage and $3,400 for family coverage.

For eligible members of unions AFSCME General, AFSCME Nurses, FOPPO, PAA, and non-represented employees $1,600 for individual coverage and $3,200 for family coverage. Those who complete the requirements to receive the Live Well Credit by November 30, 2026, will receive an additional contribution of $400 individual or $800 family, funded in 2027.

These amounts are prorated based on date of hire.

All eligible employees who complete a Health History Risk Assessment (HHRA), Biometric Screening, and Comprehensive Health Review (CHR) at the Live Well Center receive a $20 per month credit.

Wellness Clinic - The Live Well Center is for Lane County benefits-eligible employees, spouses and dependents (ages 2 and up) who are enrolled in the Lane County health plan. Marathon Health manages the Live Well Center and their clinical team provides confidential, affordable care for your acute and preventive healthcare needs. The Live Well Center also provides health coaching, chronic disease counseling, comprehensive primary care services, and much more.

Dental - Lane County provides dental coverage for employees and their eligible dependents.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Lane County provides this counseling and concierge service to employees and members of their immediate households.

Fitness Center Membership - Lane County provides employees with a free membership to a local fitness center.
