BKS CPAs is a locally owned Eugene accounting firm seeking a dependable, intelligent, and detail-oriented person to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid bookkeeping or accounting background who wants to continue developing professionally and potentially grow into tax preparation and more advanced accounting work.
Extensive tax experience is not required. We are more interested in finding someone with a strong accounting foundation, excellent work habits, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine commitment to accuracy.
What you will do
- Prepare and maintain accounting records for business clients
- Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, loan, and general-ledger accounts
- Review financial information for accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Prepare accounting workpapers and supporting schedules
- Assist with year-end accounting and tax preparation projects
- Learn to prepare business and individual tax returns based on demonstrated ability and interest
- Communicate professionally with clients and members of our team
- Take on increasingly complex work as your skills develop
You may be a strong fit if you
- Have bookkeeping, payroll, or general accounting experience
- Understand debits, credits, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Are proficient with accounting software; QuickBooks experience is especially helpful
- Notice details and inconsistencies that other people miss
- Take ownership of assignments and follow through
- Are comfortable asking thoughtful questions
- Learn new systems and concepts quickly
- Care about producing accurate, complete work
- Want an opportunity to grow rather than simply perform the same tasks indefinitely
An accounting degree is helpful but not required. Prior tax experience is helpful but not required.
