Our Mission is to provide resources, peer support, and wellness services to people affected by or at risk for mental health conditions related to parenthood. We educate parents and the professionals who serve them on prevention, identification, and treatment. WellMama raises community awareness of perinatal mental health and promotes supportive policies and accessible treatment. .
WellMama seeks to hire a OHA-Certified Traditional Health Worker (Birth Doula, Peer Support Specialist, Peer Wellness/Navigator, Community Health Worker or other THW), or qualifying individual willing to become certified as THW. This position will be integrated into the Women’s Care team and located primarily at the Women’s Care – 10 Coburg in Eugene
Primary Purpose and Function:
This person will assist in advancing the mission of WellMama through individual Peer Support and case management, acting as a connector to supports and services that meet the wellness goals mutually established with patient/client. This this person will work with patients exhibiting troubles with social determinants of health and/or are at risk for or experiencing mental health challenges. They will receive immediate referrals from on-site doctors and depending on workflow, will have warm hand off immediately after their appointment, or if already seeing a client, follow-up will be required. This person will need to be able to work independently and communicate with skill to keep 2 separate organization teams informed and well-resourced for the partnership to succeed.
Required Professional Experience and Skills:
The candidate we looking for is someone who has lived experience with pregnancy or postpartum depression or anxiety, infertility, perinatal loss, birth trauma, or other challenge related to the transition to parenthood. The successful candidate will feel grounded in mental wellness and healed from past experiences, with preference given to those with experience working or living within diverse communities. Other professional or educational experience in lieu of lived experience will be looked at on a case-by-case basis. Supervisory and/or group facilitation experience within a nonprofit organization, community group, or peer support environment, management of projects/staff/volunteers/events/etc., in addition to the following interpersonal skills:
- Commitment to serving and advocating for diverse range of the community, including but not limited to diversity of age, nationality, gender expression, sexual identity, race, religion, and physical or mental ability.
- Ability to establish and hold boundaries with participants.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to show empathy and exhibit non-judgmental attitude.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow policies and procedures for new partnership in collaboration with WellMama and Women’s Care leadership.
- Provide direct services on site and virtually to Women’s Care patients, utilizing best practices in traditional health worker duties including providing peer support, case management, resource building, skill building, referrals, and more. Will build rapport and trust with patient/client and also be able to hand off to WellMama team and other resources when appropriate.
- Ensure evidence-based program design and implementation is in accordance with the WellMama mission, values, and core program elements.
- Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with Women’s Care team and communicate with WellMama team appropriately to ensure adequate flow.
- Manage, evaluate, store, and analyze client data in accordance with all applicable laws and policies of Women’s Care and WellMama.
- Assess success measurement through assessment and goal setting, in line with best practices and grant required measurement tools.
- Participate and engage in regularly scheduled staff meetings, one-on-one meetings, and required coordination activities for both Women’s Care and WellMama.
- Keep Women’s Care clinics up to date with all WellMama materials and train Women’s Care teams on relevant best practices.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and Program Director, manage program-related grant activities, including compliance with grant requirements, reporting, and evaluation for Lane Community Health Council.
- Provide mentorship to interns or volunteers when assigned.
- Communicate openly, frequently, and candidly about the successes and challenges of new integrated position to be able to make improvements. Help to design next steps in integration to other clinics when relevant.

Salary & Benefits
This position will be part-time, 40 hours per week, majority in-person at Women’s Care _ 10 Coburg with some in-person or virtual work at WellMama office/teaming on zoom, starting at $25/hr with opportunity ($1 increase for current THW certification) for annual raises, and benefits immediately upon hiring including 3% retirement match, health related reimbursement, mental health days, Paid Family Leave.
