Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled or entry level detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision metal components in accordance with engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various machining tools and measurement instruments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality manufacturing processes within a dynamic and safety-conscious environment.

Duties

Interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to determine machining requirements.
Program CNC machines using G-code and M-code, including Fanuc controls, to ensure accurate production runs.
Set up CNC lathes and milling machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to specifications.
Operate CNC machinery with precision, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
Perform machine calibration, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize machining accuracy.
Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measurement instruments.
Troubleshoot machining issues, perform manual machining when necessary, and make adjustments for continuous improvement.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area; perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure adherence to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.

Requirements

Proven experience as a CNC Machinist working with CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with Fanuc controls is preferred.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation.
Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks or general CAM programming skills for toolpath generation.
Familiarity with machining tools, manual tools, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and tooling setup.
Ability to operate precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators for quality control.
Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including grinding, boring, turning, milling, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Excellent attention to detail combined with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
