Job Overview
We are looking for a dependable, self-motivated Assistant Dog Trainer / Kennel Technician to support our training and daily care operations. This role works within structured programs created by our lead trainers, helping maintain consistency in training while ensuring top-level care for all dogs in the facility.
This position is ideal for someone who takes initiative, stays on task without constant supervision, and takes pride in doing things the right way every time. There is also opportunity for growth into more advanced roles for the right person over time.
This is not a casual “play with dogs” position—this role requires consistency, structure, and a high standard of care every shift.
Responsibilities
- Carry out training routines and exercises as directed by lead trainers
- Maintain consistency in each dog’s existing training program
- Monitor behavior and progress; communicate updates to lead trainers
- Assist with obedience reinforcement and structured play
- Feed, water, and provide daily care for all dogs
- Clean kennels, training areas, and common spaces thoroughly
- Follow assigned schedules and complete all daily tasks independently
- Keep the facility organized, safe, and running smoothly throughout your shift
Requirements
- Previous experience working with dogs (kennel, daycare, training, vet clinic, or similar)
- Confident handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Strong self-discipline and ability to stay productive in an independent work environment
- Ability to follow systems, routines, and expectations consistently
- High standards for cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail
- Physically capable of handling larger dogs and performing cleaning duties
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Exposure to dog training programs or techniques
- Basic understanding of canine behavior
If you’re someone who doesn’t need to be micromanaged, takes ownership of your work, and enjoys working with dogs in a structured environment—with room to grow—we’d love to hear from you.
