Full Job Description

Hunterdon Hematology Oncology is a private medical practice that specializes in chemotherapy, infusions, and radiation treatments, as well as innovative treatments like immunotherapy and personalized targeted therapy to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Our Operations Team is seeking an organized, reliable, and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to streamline healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes and overall practice efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a compassionate nature, and the ability to multitask. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic medical oncology team dedicated to providing top-tier care!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review upcoming visits to ensure recent lab results, imaging, and specialist notes are in the EHR.
Call patients to confirm appointments, discuss required pre-visit tests, and gather information on their agenda or needs.
Proactively ensure referrals and prior authorizations are in place before the patient’s appointment.
Collect copayments and schedule patients for follow-up appointments.
Perform general clerical duties including faxing, copying, filing, distributing memos and daily schedules, etc.
Maintain knowledge of providers, facility personnel, and office procedures.
Generate any referrals needed for FRAP, Physical Therapy, Home Health, and Hospice.
Print all necessary educational material for the patient.
Schedule patients with Interventional Radiology, Chemotherapy, and Imaging appointments (CT, PET, MRI, X-ray, US, DXA, EKG, etc.) including Barium Swallows and inform the patients of the proper protocol and procedures.
Schedule patients for Surgeries, Biopsies, PFTs, IR procedures, Ports/VADs, Paras/Thoras, Flow studies, Bone Marrow Procedures, Chemo Embolizations, PleurX, Lumbar Punctures, and/or Spinal Taps.
Manage multi-line phone systems.
Perform check-in and check-out services for patients.
Provide assistance to new patients seeking medical care including scheduling their first appointment and obtaining medical records.
Update patient insurance information on file.
Address patient questions and concerns.

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or a GED
2+ years of related Medical Office experience
Excellent computer skills. Must be able to work effectively with Microsoft Word, Excel, and EHR (NextGen experience preferred)
Experience with scheduling medical procedures
Experience with scripts and orders
Knowledge of ICD-10 codes and CPT codes
Experience in handling and balancing cash
Excellent customer service skills
Scheduling, administrative, or assistant experience
Knowledge of office management responsibilities, systems, and procedures
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
