Full Job Description

A privately held investment and operating enterprise in the Seacoast of NH is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a team responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance activities. This position reports directly to senior finance leadership and plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial operations across a diverse portfolio of entities.

Responsibilities:

Accounting

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions and eliminations.
Oversee accounting activities for a large portfolio of entities, including trusts, operating businesses, nonprofit organizations, and holding companies.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial, budgetary, and operational records.
Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.

Financial Reporting

Prepare and review financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and profitability analyses.
Analyze historical and current financial performance, trends, costs, revenues, commitments, and obligations.
Provide meaningful financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
Support management decision-making through clear interpretation of financial data and results.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Coordinate and consolidate financial data during the annual budgeting process.
Maintain forecasts and planning models within financial systems.
Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide reporting and recommendations as needed.

Business Partnership

Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic financial matters, including resource allocation, capital utilization, process improvements, policy development, and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen financial processes, and support organizational objectives.

Team Leadership

Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Provide coaching, performance management, and guidance to support team effectiveness and professional growth.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
At least 2 years of experience supervising or managing staff.
Experience overseeing accounting for multiple legal entities.
CPA designation is preferred but not required.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting expertise.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms.
Experience with investment accounting, wealth management reporting systems, or similar financial applications is a plus.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly related to investments, operating businesses, and intercompany accounting.

Comp- $125K-$140 + bonus
