Orthodontic Assistant - Mojo Ortho (Virginia-Highland, Atlanta)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic team at Mojo Ortho, a boutique, fully digital orthodontic practice. In this vital role, you will support our orthodontist by providing exceptional patient care, preparing treatment areas, and assisting during procedures, with a strong emphasis on digital workflows, including iTero scanning and Invisalign treatment. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help ensure a smooth, efficient, and positive experience for our patients. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills within a fast-paced, patient-centered environment focused on delivering outstanding, technology-forward orthodontic care.

Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, ensuring compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques
Capture digital impressions and scans using the iTero scanner, including monitoring treatment progress through digital simulations
Support all stages of Invisalign treatment, including attachment placement, aligner fittings, and patient instruction on wear and care
Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans and other medical imaging, while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Manage patient records accurately using patient management software, including updating medical documentation and dental records
Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment protocols to promote optimal outcomes
Monitor vital signs as needed and assist in assessing patient comfort throughout procedures
Ensure all dental equipment is properly maintained, sterilized according to dental sterilization procedures, and ready for use at all times

Experience

Prior experience working in an orthodontic clinic setting is strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with iTero (or similar intraoral) scanning technology is required
Invisalign clinical experience is highly preferred - familiarity with attachment placement, aligner check-ins, and ClinCheck treatment plans is a strong plus
Proficiency in dental assisting with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment is essential
Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems is highly desirable
Knowledge of infection control standards, including healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, is required
Experience with dental x-ray procedures will be considered an asset
Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical documentation practices is important for maintaining accurate records
Comfort working in a fully digital, paperless clinical environment
