Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Accounting Intern and gain hands-on experience in the world of financial management and accounting practices. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a professional environment, working alongside seasoned accounting professionals. You will support various financial functions, enhance your understanding of industry standards, and contribute to meaningful projects that impact our organization’s financial health. Whether you’re passionate about corporate accounting, non-profit financial management, or regulatory reporting, this role provides a comprehensive foundation for your accounting career.

Duties

Assist with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation to ensure accurate financial records.
Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
Contribute to financial report writing, interpretation, and preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Help with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliation, and cash flow analysis to maintain financial accuracy.
Participate in auditing activities and regulatory reporting to ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and securities law standards.
Use accounting software such as Sage, Xero, and other financial tools to perform bookkeeping tasks and manage data entry efficiently.
Collaborate with team members on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a strong academic record.
Basic understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting.
Familiarity with financial concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, and account analysis.
Experience or coursework involving GAAP standards, regulatory reporting, or governmental accounting is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and perform financial statement preparation.
Knowledge of accounting software such as Sage or Xero is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
Prior experience in public accounting or non-profit accounting is advantageous but not required; mentoring skills are valued for supporting team growth. This internship is designed for motivated individuals eager to deepen their understanding of financial management while contributing meaningfully to our organization’s success.
