Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Inpatient Solid Tumor Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our multidisciplinary oncology team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive inpatient care to patients with solid tumors, supporting treatment plans, symptom management, and clinical research initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in hospital medicine, critical care, and oncology, demonstrating a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care within a fast-paced hospital environment. This position emphasizes collaboration, clinical excellence, and innovation in cancer treatment.

Duties

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and vital signs, to develop individualized care plans for inpatient oncology patients.
Manage acute pain and symptom control, including the administration of injections such as Botulinum toxin when indicated for symptom relief.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal inpatient care, including ventilator management, airway management, and ICU support for critically ill patients.
Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner; document findings accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Participate in clinical research studies and clinical trials focused on solid tumor treatments; collect and analyze data to support ongoing research efforts.
Provide triage and urgent care services within the hospital setting, addressing emergent issues related to oncology patients with Level I or Level II trauma center experience preferred.
Assist with discharge planning, hospice & palliative care coordination, and post-acute care transitions to ensure seamless patient recovery and follow-up.
Support procedural interventions such as suturing, phlebotomy, and basic diagnostic procedures; maintain aseptic technique during all invasive procedures.

Qualifications

Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with relevant certification in oncology or internal medicine preferred.
Extensive hospital medicine experience with a focus on inpatient solid tumor oncology; critical care or ICU experience highly desirable.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/10, and ICD coding standards.
Demonstrated expertise in pain management techniques, including acute pain assessment and medication administration.
Experience with telehealth platforms and data management for clinical research purposes.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques pertinent to oncology patients.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams across various hospital departments.
