CGI is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help modernize a complex federal compliance and enforcement system that supports high-stakes regulatory, review, enforcement, records, and operational workflows. This is a systems-design role for someone who can turn legacy processes, dense information, policy constraints, and stakeholder input into clear, usable, accessible digital experiences.
You will work across workflow modernization efforts: mapping current-state processes, identifying friction and risk, designing future-state flows, testing design directions, and creating clear artifacts that help teams align, validate, and deliver. This is a strong opportunity for a designer who enjoys systems thinking, high-impact public-sector work, and close collaboration with product managers, business analysts, engineers, researchers, subject-matter experts, and federal stakeholders.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA, Knoxville, TN or Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
As a Senior Product Designer, you will:
.Create and contribute to user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interface patterns for complex federal enterprise applications.
.Translate policy, operational, and technical requirements into usable end-to-end experiences.
.Design and lead interactive stakeholder workshops to support requirement gathering and validation.
.Synthesize research, stakeholder input, and legacy-system constraints into clear design direction.
.Create design artifacts at the right level of fidelity for the task: sketches, flows, wireframes, prototypes, specs, annotations, and component documentation.
.Partner with developers to ensure design intent, interaction behavior, accessibility, and edge cases are clearly understood throughout delivery.
.Apply and extend USWDS guidance while adapting it for dense, workflow-heavy application needs.
.Identify gaps, propose improvements, and take initiative without waiting to be told exactly what to do.
.Help organize design files, design system documentation, and reusable patterns so the team can move faster over time.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
We are looking for an experienced designer who is curious, highly organized, and comfortable working in a complex domain. You should be able to go deep on details while still seeing the larger product and system strategy.
You may be a great fit if you:
.Get energized by complicated systems and want to understand how all the pieces fit together.
.Can take a vague problem, ask smart questions, map the moving parts, and propose a practical path forward.
.Enjoy building reusable patterns instead of solving the same problem differently every time.
.Care about details like spacing, hierarchy, states, interactions, edge cases, and developer handoff.
.Are comfortable saying, I found a better way to organize this, and then showing the team how.
.Can work quickly without being sloppy.
.Are thoughtful, reliable, curious, and willing to dig into unfamiliar subject matter.
.5+ years of experience designing and delivering software products as part of cross-functional teams.
.Strong portfolio showing end-to-end UX/product design work, especially for complex applications, enterprise software, SaaS, government systems, internal tools, or workflow-heavy products.
.Advanced Figma skills, including components, variants, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and design system file organization.
.Experience designing with or contributing to a design system, component library, style guide, or pattern library.
.Strong understanding of user-centered design methods, including research synthesis, user flows, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
.Ability to design for complex data, forms, tables, filters, statuses, dashboards, permissions, and multi-step workflows.
.Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and make thoughtful progress without constant direction.
.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain design rationale to product, engineering, leadership, and client
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
Strongly Preferred
.Experience with USWDS or other government/public-sector design systems.
.Experience designing federal, civic-tech, regulatory, compliance, case management, or enterprise operations systems.
.Experience creating design system documentation for both designers and developers.
.Familiarity with Agile delivery, Jira, Confluence, and collaborative product development workflows.
.Comfort working with business analysts, SMEs, and stakeholders in complex policy or regulatory environments.
.Ability to think structurally about objects, records, workflows, permissions, statuses, and reusable patterns.
.Experience designing accessible, responsive web applications for users with varied technical skill levels.
