Full Job Description

Job Overview

Capital Women's Care provides total women's healthcare at the highest medical and ethical standards. This is a great opportunity to join one of the best OB/GYN practices in the area and a dynamic team. Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The Surgery Coordinator is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, preparing and coordinating pre-operative and post-operative patient care, and ensuring efficient communication between the hospitals, surgery centers and in-office procedures with physicians and our affiliates.

Responsibilities

Obtain detailed information from physicians regarding procedures, equipment, personnel needs, and estimated time requirements.
Schedule patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, surgeries, and post-operative appointments at appropriate facilities.
Prepare patient charts for surgical appointments, including lab results, x-rays, scans, and other necessary documents.
Coordinate pre-certification and authorizations with insurance companies for upcoming surgeries.
Contact patients in advance to confirm appointments and review pre-operative instructions.
Coordinate with the anesthesiologist and surgical assistant as necessary.
Communicate with patients regarding schedule changes, early admissions, or unforeseen cancellations.
Schedule and confirm pre-operative appointments and post-operative follow-ups when needed.
Track, confirm, and fax pre-operative results to relevant facilities.
Adhere strictly to privacy and patient confidentiality standards in all interactions.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
2 years’ experience as a surgical scheduler with corresponding knowledge of insurance eligibility and authorizations.
3 years’ experience in a medical office.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients about their health.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Commitment to providing compassionate care while advocating for women's health issues.
