We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager who can manage active construction projects, lead jobsite safety meetings, conduct SOP training and provide professional daily documentation to our clients.
This individual must understand construction operations and be comfortable communicating with field crews, subcontractors, customers, inspectors and the main office. They will use photos, video and basic video editing to clearly document progress, problems, training and completed work.
This is a Construction Project Manager position first. Video production and editing are important tools used to improve training, accountability and client communication. Commercial worthy videography and editing skills is a plus!
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from mobilization through final completion and closeout.
- Coordinate daily schedules, employees, subcontractors, materials, deliveries and equipment.
- Review plans, scopes, specifications, schedules and jobsite conditions.
- Confirm that crews understand the scope and have the information and materials needed to proceed.
- Communicate daily with crew leaders, subcontractors, customers, inspectors and company management.
- Identify delays, conflicts, missing information and quality concerns before they affect the schedule.
- Develop two or three realistic solutions when problems arise instead of simply reporting the problem.
- Prepare and submit RFIs, change-order documentation and supporting photos or videos.
- Monitor workmanship, productivity, cleanliness and jobsite safety.
- Verify completed work against the plans, scope and client expectations.
- Maintain control of punch lists, inspections, corrections and project closeout.
Safety Meetings and SOP Training
- Host daily or scheduled jobsite safety meetings.
- Select safety topics based on the work being performed that day.
- Review hazards, PPE requirements, equipment use, access restrictions and emergency procedures.
- Document attendance and the safety topics covered.
- Stop and correct unsafe work immediately.
- Lead hands-on SOP training for painting, drywall, framing, finish carpentry, ladders, scaffolding, equipment operation, material handling and other assigned trades.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure or coordinate with a qualified field leader.
- Confirm that employees understand the SOP before allowing independent work.
- Record short training videos that can be reused on future projects.
- Document retraining when procedures are not being followed.
Daily Logs, Photos and Client Reporting
- Complete a detailed daily project log before the end of every shift.
- Record manpower, subcontractors, hours worked, completed work, deliveries, inspections, delays, safety meetings and outstanding issues.
- Capture clear progress photos showing all major work areas.
- Photograph every relevant room, wall, corner, work area and completed scope—not only problem areas.
- Include before, during and after photos when documenting repairs or corrections.
- Add written descriptions explaining what each photo shows.
- Capture video walkthroughs that allow the client to understand the actual condition and progress of the project.
- Document problems with photos, measurements, plan references and recommended solutions.
- Create a short edited daily progress video when required.
- Upload daily logs, photos and videos to JobTread or the company’s designated system.
- Provide the client and main office with a complete, professional daily progress report.
- Maintain organized project files so information can be located by project, date, location and scope.
Video Capture and Editing
- Capture professional construction footage using company-provided cameras, microphones, lighting and mobile AV equipment.
- Record safety meetings, SOP demonstrations, inspections, project milestones and completed work.
- Trim footage and organize clips into a clear sequence.
- Add titles, captions, voiceovers, graphics, music and company branding when appropriate.
- Produce short daily updates, training videos, project recaps and final completion videos.
- Create rough cuts for review and complete final revisions.
- Maintain logical sequencing, accurate construction terminology and smooth presentation.
- Organize, label, back up and upload all footage.
- Maintain and inventory company cameras, audio equipment, computers and AV equipment.
Required Construction Experience
- Proven experience managing commercial construction, retail remodels, refresh projects or similar fast-paced work.
- Working knowledge of painting, drywall, steel-stud framing, finish carpentry, ceilings, flooring and general construction.
- Ability to read plans, scopes, specifications and project schedules.
- Experience coordinating employees, subcontractors, customers, inspectors and vendors.
- Understanding of OSHA requirements and jobsite safety practices.
- Experience conducting safety meetings or employee training.
- Ability to recognize quality problems and explain the correct repair procedure.
- Strong understanding of RFIs, change orders, daily logs, punch lists and closeout documentation.
Required Video and Technology Skills
- Experience capturing and editing professional video.
- Proficiency with Final Cut Pro or comparable modern editing software.
- Understanding of cameras, lighting, microphones, wireless audio and field-production equipment.
- Ability to quickly edit and publish short construction videos.
- Experience adding titles, captions, graphics, audio and basic effects.
- Strong file-management and digital-organization skills.
- Experience with JobTread or similar construction-management software is preferred.
- A portfolio demonstrating video-editing ability is required.
Travel and Equipment Requirements
- Willing and able to travel throughout the United States.
- Able to remain on out-of-town assignments for multiple weeks when required.
- Legally able to travel by commercial airline.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Able to operate and maintain the company’s mobile AV production vehicle.
- Responsible for securing, transporting, inventorying and protecting company production equipment.
- Available to work days, nights or adjusted schedules based on project requirements.
The Right Candidate
The right person is an experienced Construction Project Manager who understands how work should be performed, can confidently lead crews and safety meetings, and can use video as a professional project-management and training tool.
We are not looking for a video editor who needs to be taught construction. We are also not looking for a construction manager who cannot professionally capture, edit and organize video.
This position requires both construction leadership and practical video-production ability. We look forward to hearing from you!
