Nursing Assistant Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including urgent care, medical-surgical units, memory care facilities, and behavioral health environments. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring their comfort and safety.

Duties
As a Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Administering medications as directed by nursing staff and ensuring accurate documentation of medication administration.
Monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes in patient conditions to the nursing team.
Providing care for patients with dementia and other cognitive impairments, ensuring their needs are met with patience and understanding.
Supporting behavioral health initiatives by engaging with patients in a supportive manner.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient areas to promote a safe environment.
Documenting patient care activities accurately in medical records to ensure continuity of care.
Collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.

Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Proficiency in urgent care practices and procedures.
Experience in medication administration and familiarity with medical-surgical protocols.
Knowledge of dementia care techniques and strategies for effective communication with patients experiencing memory loss.
Strong patient service orientation with the ability to empathize and connect with diverse populations.
Familiarity with medical documentation systems to ensure accurate record-keeping.
A background in senior care or behavioral health is highly desirable.
