Full Job Description

Job Description

The Sous Chef is the right-hand of Back of House (BOH), helping the Head Chef lead through their knowledge of company recipes. They help set a culture of excellence and passion, leading the kitchen by example.

Job Duties

Team Leadership
Assists in training new staff and the oversight of the Back of House (BOH).
Assists in creating specials and communicates with staff across all shifts.
Sets a positive example of how to handle high-stress.
Continues to expand their knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.
Food Preparation & Quality Control
Assists in leading the kitchen in meeting food safety standards, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen.
Directs food preparation with the Head Chef.
Works in partnership with the Head Chef to report any equipment maintenance issues through timely work order submission.
Produces high quality plates consistently in design and taste.
Operational Support & Inventory Management
Assists in tracking kitchen inventory and stocking and ordering for the BOH.
Assists the Store Manager by completing assigned tasks.
Notifies head chef and manager of equipment maintenance needs and submits work orders.
Communicates with the Head Chef for kitchen improvements and adjustments.
Other duties as assigned.
While this description aims to capture all duties and responsibilities of the Sous Chef position, we recognize that some flexibility is required for emergency situations and potential changes in staffing.

Job Requirements

Must have a valid Food Handler certification or be willing to obtain one prior to starting employment, at the company’s expense.
At least 1-2 years of experience as a cook, prep cook, or similar role.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of basic online inventory, email, and distributor platforms.
Demonstrates exceptional communication and active listening skills.
Ability to lift 25+ pounds and perform repetitive motions.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
