AmeriCorps Full Time Position Details

Service Site Location(s): Girard School District

Join our team and help make a difference in students’ lives! We are looking for AmeriCorps members to support teachers in strengthening student success in reading and math. Members will serve alongside educators to assist with small group instruction, provide academic support, and contribute to school-based projects that promote student achievement and engagement. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dedicated team focused on helping every student grow while gaining hands-on experience in education.

Schedule: Monday – Friday - Full Time Daytime Hours (occasional evening / weekend hours)

Message from Host Site: "Rice Avenue Middle School (RAMS) is a vibrant, student-centered school serving grades 5–8, where building relationships and fostering student growth are at the core of our work. Staff collaborate closely to support students during a pivotal stage of development, helping them build confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging. Through mentoring, small-group support, and engaging schoolwide initiatives, RAMS provides a dynamic environment for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact and inspire students to stay motivated and connected to their learning. Elk Valley Elementary School (EVES) offers a warm and welcoming environment where young learners begin their educational journey. The focus at EVES is on developing strong foundational skills while nurturing curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. With an emphasis on positive relationships and early support, EVES provides a rewarding setting for those passionate about helping children grow academically and socially, making a lasting difference from the very start of their school experience." - Mike Trudnowski

1700 Hour Monthly Pretax Living Allowance: $2,600.00 monthly gross (48 weeks)

Upon Competition of Term

Education Award: $7,395.00

Additionally, federal loan forbearance (pause in loan payments) while serving in AmeriCorps
Accrued interest while serving as an AmeriCorps member paid by AmeriCorps program
Education Award earned when program is successfully completed

AmeriCorps Responsibilities: (in addition to host site service)

Plan and implement service-learning projects for students at host sites or in communities
Attend monthly member meetings
Complete virtual training to amplify service abilities
Participate in National Service Days and planned events
Create a service portfolio and track and report service outcomes
Serve as an ambassador in your neighborhood and community
Participate in a virtual pre-service training prior to serving at assigned host site

All members must participate in a three-day pre-service training which may be virtual or in-person.

AmeriCorps is a national service program in which during membership members also agree to participate in AmeriCorps activities in addition to host site placement responsibilities.

Activities are concentrated in the following areas:

School Readiness & Success
Mentoring Youth through Service
Academic support service
Community Strengthening through Outreach Events and Special Projects
STEM/STEAM/STREAM activities and service learning
Host sites may have additional areas of focus to be discussed at host site interview.
