Help Build One of the Most Trusted Brands in Military Surplus

Do you love military surplus and tactical gear? Do you enjoy creating content that people actually find useful? Do you want to kit up in cool gear and LARP for the sake of social media advertising?

We’re looking for a creative marketer who doesn't mind regularly showing up on the Venture Surplus social media channels, enjoys military surplus, photography, visual storytelling, short-form video, and continuous learning. You’ll help build one of the most trusted brands in military surplus and outdoor gear by creating content that educates customers, showcases unique products, and helps people make informed purchasing decisions.

This isn’t a position where you’ll simply schedule social media posts or follow someone else’s checklist. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape the voice, photography, and marketing direction of a growing national e-commerce brand. We value initiative, creativity, and people who enjoy continually improving their skills.

About Venture Surplus

Venture Surplus started in a Colorado basement with a passion for military surplus and a belief that customers deserved better. What began as a small business has grown into one of the largest collections of military surplus available online, serving everyone from active-duty military personnel and veterans to campers, hikers, collectors, and outdoor enthusiasts.

We love finding interesting gear and sharing our knowledge with customers. Our goal is to help people find reliable gear, provide accurate information, and earn their trust through every interaction.

What You’ll Do

Every day is a little different with military surplus. One morning you might be photographing newly arrived military surplus gear, later you’re planning next month’s content calendar and developing ideas for an upcoming marketing campaign.

Your responsibilities will include:

Planning and creating engaging marketing content across multiple platforms.
Photographing products and lifestyle content.
Creating and editing short-form video content.
Writing marketing emails and assisting with email campaign planning.
Assisting with social media content creation and scheduling.
Helping develop and maintain the marketing content calendar.
Pitching new ideas for campaigns, content, and customer education.
Working with the Marketing Director to improve marketing systems and processes.
Organizing and maintaining marketing assets and content libraries.
Using modern technology and AI tools to improve quality and efficiency.
Supporting the Venture Surplus brand through accurate, trustworthy, and educational content.

Qualifications

must have experience with military surplus and tactical gear. You will be wearing and kitting up in this gear using pictures of you in this gear on the Venture Surplus social media channels
3–5 years of experience creating content, photography, videography, social media, marketing, or a closely related field. Professional, freelance, business, and established personal creator experience are all considered.
A portfolio or examples of your work that demonstrate your abilities. This may include a professional portfolio, business social media accounts you’ve managed, personal creator accounts, photography projects, marketing campaigns, or other relevant work.
Experience creating professional-quality photography and short-form video content.
Excellent written communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Comfortable using technology and enjoy continuously improving your workflow.
