Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Quality Manager to join our team. The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's food safety and quality management systems to ensure products consistently meet regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and company quality standards. This role leads quality assurance initiatives, manages audits, drives continuous improvement, and fosters a strong food safety culture throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS).
Lead the development, implementation, review and maintenance of Food Safety Fundamentals, the Food Safety and Quality Plans, and the SQF program, while ensuring effective communication of all relevant information to employees.
Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA (where applicable), HACCP, GMP, SQF/BRC/FSSC 22000, and other regulatory and customer requirements.
Lead internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and oversee corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Visually inspecting the product along with use of measurement and gauge tools.
Manage quality assurance personnel, including training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with product specifications and food safety standards.
Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and product quality issues, implementing effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Review and approve product specifications, quality documentation, SOPs, and work instructions.
Analyze quality metrics, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve product consistency.
Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Procurement, to support operational excellence.
Manage environmental monitoring, allergen control, sanitation verification, and product testing programs.
Oversee supplier quality programs, including supplier approval and performance monitoring.
Ensure laboratory testing programs meet internal and regulatory requirements.
Maintain records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Lead food safety and quality training programs for plant employees.
Lead teams in site projects to include waste reduction and new product launches.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

5+ years of quality assurance experience in food manufacturing.
Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, Preventive Controls for Human Food, FDA regulations, and food safety systems.
Experience with GFSI-recognized certification schemes such as SQF, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000.
HACCP certification required; PCQI certification preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software.

Preferred Qualifications

ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CMQ/OE) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement methodologies.

Working Conditions

Primarily based in a food manufacturing facility.
Frequent production floor presence is required.
Ability to work in refrigerated, frozen, or hot processing environments as needed.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
