Service Area: Throughout New England, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut (primarily Massachusetts)
Compensation: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience

Experience Required
Previous underground utility locating experience is required. We are seeking experienced utility locators with knowledge of underground utility damage prevention and the ability to accurately locate and mark underground utility facilities. Experience locating electric, communications, fiber optic, CATV, natural gas, propane, water, sewer, steam, petroleum, or private utility systems is strongly preferred.

Position Overview
As an Underground Utility Locator, you will accurately locate and mark underground utility facilities before excavation using state-of-the-art locating equipment and technology.
Utilities include, but are not limited to:
- Electric Distribution & Transmission
- Fiber Optic Networks
- Telecommunications
- CATV
- Natural Gas
- Propane
- Water
- Sewer
- Steam
- Petroleum Pipelines
- Private Utility Systems
- Other underground utility infrastructure
This is a field-based position where employees are dispatched directly from home using a company-provided vehicle and assigned a dedicated service territory.
Primary Responsibilities
- Receive, manage, document, and close Dig Safe/811 excavation notices using company software and mobile technology.
- Read and interpret utility maps, construction drawings, GIS mapping, and as-built utility plans.
- Utilize electromagnetic locating equipment, GPS, and other locating technologies to accurately identify and mark underground utilities.
- Communicate professionally with excavators, utility owners, municipalities, contractors, and company personnel.
- Perform light excavation when necessary to verify underground utility locations.
- Complete accurate documentation, sketches, photographs, and electronic locate reports.
- Respond to routine, emergency, and after-hours excavation requests within required response times.
- Safely operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
- Perform manhole entry when required using proper confined-space procedures and safety equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance while representing Bullseye Underground Utility Locating.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Previous underground utility locating experience required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience locating electric, communications, fiber optic, CATV, natural gas, propane, water, sewer, steam, petroleum, or private utilities.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Willingness to participate in random drug testing in accordance with company policy and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk uneven terrain throughout the workday.

Work Schedule
Utility Locators manage their daily workload independently within their assigned territory. Most work is performed during daytime hours; however, schedules may be adjusted to accommodate emergency requests, customer needs, weather conditions, and workload.
Typical work is performed between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to manage your daily schedule while meeting required response times and customer commitments.
Employees participate in a 24-hour rotating on-call schedule approximately once every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on staffing levels. During on-call assignments, employees may respond to emergency excavation requests during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other after-hours periods.
Overtime opportunities are available for emergency response, storm response, increased workload, and special projects.
Employees who become qualified to perform additional utility locating services, private utility locating, damage investigations, mapping, utility inspections, or other specialized locating assignments are eligible for increased compensation and advancement opportunities.
